Tru-Lan Imperium

Overview:

A civilization relatively new to the galaxy, the Tru-Lan were spawned from large lifeless asteroids that originally occupied their space. When Goghth arrived after his Journey, he used his power to create all the planets that are there now, and empower them with all the powers that he had gained over his eternity of traveling. Elemental in nature, these powers represent the forces of Tru-lan society. To the galaxy at large, the Tru-lan are primarily a military threat, seeking only vengeance on those who caused Goghth his Journey.

Q-dex:

Technology:

Since everything in the Tru-Lan Imperium is alive, the very ships they travel in are likewise so.

Magic:

Size:

Tru-Lan space includes six planets, each representing an element in the Tru-Lan mystickal science.

Dumak Earth
Praxus Space
Emprat Energy
Kh'umar Life
Dh'umar Death
Goghth Universe

The planets Khu'mar and Dhu'mar are dual planets, orbiting one another in a repetitive cycle and closely bonded by the elements they represent. There are two suns in the system, the planets of which orbit in a figure-eight fashion.

Population:

There is a relatively small population for the number of planets in Tru-Lan space. There may be about 3 million Tru-lan per planet, with 4 to 5 million on the planets of Khu’mar and Dhu’mar, the main planets. All together, there are approximately 21 million residents in the quantum zone. This small population is due to 2 factors:
  • Goghth has no need presently for a large population (Tru-lan are very efficient).
  • The wars of the past have drained the population.

Climate and Geography:

Since the planets rotate around two suns, the planets generally have short winters, and don’t necessarily sleep when it gets dark. The galaxy maintains a moderate climate, although each planet's elemental property will effect this to some degree.

History:

The Origin (approximately 8000BC)

There once existed a quantum zone where only a single spirit existed. It kept to itself, did nothing to or for the universe around it. It only rested and thought. In time the entity became nearly omnipotent, but nobody could possibly know of it due to its remote location. Even if people had passed through the system, they would have passed it off as empty space and lifeless planets. This spirit was to become the "father" of the Goghthns.

The "father" knew that one day he would have to move out of the zone to find other civilizations, so that the destined unification of the universe could begin. But he would not be the one to accomplish this task. A quantum wave passed through the system and changed things, breaking the "fathers" essence into over a dozen different entities, each with conscious thought. The system's Q-Dex became one of a completely biological nature, supporting the use of elemental magic.

None of these new entities new why they were there, but they all had some remnants of the father being’s memories and thoughts. They knew that they should go out and build systems so that they could begin to interact with the rest of the universe, and therefore unify the galaxy.

At first, the children ruled one great empire aside one another, each lending their own distinct elemental powers. This was called the Alliance for Unified Glory, since that was the purpose of their existence in the first place. But there arose a problem: the siblings did not get along very well, and some grew more ambitious than others. After the system was established and people began to flourish, some Goghthns decided to usurp the majority of power. At the head of this was the spirit of life, Krwl-Khan. Others involved were Jin-Dool, the spirit of space, Masa-Nws, the spirit of energy, and Trali-Xav, the spirit of earth. Together these individuals were to take all of the AUG but they were deceived by Krwl-Khan.

On a particular evening on the planet of Nwbis, the 4 spirits came in their material forms to discuss the future of their new Imperium. Krwl-Khan suggested something that was not taken lightly. He said that they should fuse their essences together to become the most powerful Goghthn in the system. Nobody but Krwl-Khan thought it was a good idea, each with ambitions of their own.

Yet Krwl-Khan was blessed with a thought from the father that the others did not have, the knowledge of recombining into the father spirit again. All it took was a simple incantation and the three other Goghthns dissipated into gaseous clouds. Krwl-Khan walked up to the clouds and inhaled the gasses.

In the following years, Krwl-Khan built up followers from the civilized society. He eventually exiled his other brothers and sisters who would fight his power, and even those who could not. Although he fell in love with Val-Coor, whom he thought was more undermining than he was, she tried to remove him of his power advantage by trapping him in a human body. He caught on to the scheme and was exiled her like the rest. Many of them found their way to other systems, where their powers were nothing more that hope. Soon, after years of bloodshed by the native people below on the planets, he was the last Goghthn; the AUG was his and his alone. Now, he would begin to form the galaxy in his own image, and create a dynasty that would be remembered by the entire universe for millions of years to come.

The Distant Past (4000 years later)

There was once a unified galaxy under one Kendis-Dai. The Tru-Lan continue to believe that Goghth was not one of his followers, that he refused to become part of such a glorified cult based around one species. That time was a time of great triumph for Goghth and his people. The Tru-Lan controlled the stars as far as a Geo Class Astrostation could see. The Tru-Lan worshiped Goghth for the happiness that he had delivered after centuries of attrition. His enemies were slaughtered and beaten; he had won, the greatest Goghthn left in the universe.

So it was that Goghth began a timeline based on the peak of his power, the dawning of a new age. It was then that he decided to take on the name Goghth, the name of his kind, as a show of strength. The date was 000-01.0, the beginning of the First Tru-Lan Imperium.

On 0012-27.3 in the Tru-Lan calendar, Goghth began to sense something that he had not sensed for over a dozen generations. His enemies were returning, this time with help. Never had he felt such power in them before, such hatred, such malice. They were coming for one purpose, to dispose of him. The Tru-Lan were not ready for such an onslaught. The people had only a few ships to utilize, as most were out on patrol in other systems. All Goghth could do was call to them through their super-conscious.

The battle began with a single shot coming from a Val-Coorian Life Miner named "Revenge". It completely destroyed a light ComTrans that had been with Goghth for years. How it was that a Life Miner was able to destroy a ComTrans, or any vehicle for that matter, was a mystery. They were designed specifically to mine vim rock from Life planets. Val-Coor was joined by El-Huappo and other powers, all who wished to destroy Goghth and his Empire. In a few minutes, the Tru-Lan home system was filled with the stink of war; Goghth was surrounded by over a dozen of his kind.

Fearing the approaching druids on their way, and the ritual of Krwl-Khan (which would have diminished Goghth's very existence), he was able to flee the system, abandoning his beloved Empire. As his essence drifted away from the system, he only had thoughts of hatred, death, and revenge. He though thought about those who had joined his enemies and given them such power.

Reconstruction (73 BC)

Goghth floated asleep in space for centuries without taking any form but his usual transparent, cloud-like formation. He had a lot to think about while sleeping, all that he lost, all that he had planned, all those he hated. As soon as Goghth had the chance, he would hunt down his enemies.

Finding a new system, Goghth became aware of many things. He realized that others were close, neighbors that probably didn’t bother to notice his new system due to its low amount of intelligent life. His ability to reshape life from any biological matter allowed him to grow his people. It took nearly two years to get a batch of good beings from scratch. Once he had them, however, he would psychically transmit the knowledge necessary to help him grow more people. Soon, Goghth was able to produce an ideal creature, one that stood 8 feet tall, and weighed over 400 kilos. After that he focused on more important things, like starting an army. The Second Tru-Lan Imperium had begun.

First Contact (423 BC)

A Time of Magical Chaos (500 BC), Goghth needed to teach the people how to harness his powers for their own advantages. He needed to start academies that would allow the masses to learn efficiently. This would be the first step toward Goghth's great armies. Not only would a Battle Goghthns be supreme fighters, but they would have the skill to use the environment around them to thoroughly dispatch Goghth's opponents with heavenly force. Goghth decided to put the spirits of his brothers in chosen Tru-lan. By doing so, he would create teachers who would teach others, who in turn would teach others, eventually reaching to all the people in the galaxy.

Goghth ran into a problem though. He found that the spirits were unstable, so he had to put them all on different planets. Goghth placed the spirit of Earth, Trali-Xav, on Geish. Following that, the spirit of Energy, Masa-Nws, on the planet Emprat, and finally the spirit of space, Jin-Dool, on Praxus. The separation of these powers led to many complications with the birth of new Tru-lan, some good, some bad.

The flaws were such that certain young Tru-lan turned out to be cancerous, and could not be connected via psychic energy. These individuals had to be banished since they could not be controlled with any sort of security.

The merits were such that Goghth's people became specialized in certain areas. Those born on Praxus had a tendency to be grown with wings, or the ability to fly by some other means. Tru-lan born on Emprat had the innate ability to throw powerful beams of light, and morph over periods of time. And some of Goghth's people born on Geish were especially stocky, but unfortunately a little short. They could also move like the wind. Goghth found these differences to be annoying to deal with, but saw them as advantageous in the long run. He began studies on the planets to localize what caused these mutations, and how to promote them, even how to combine them so that soon, ultimate Tru-lan could be produced that couldn’t be stopped. But that would take some time, too long in fact. It wouldn’t be long before his enemies would find him, and try to finish what they had started years ago.

The Blackvoid Wars (Khryjahs Invasion)

At this time in the evolution of the Tru-lan, people had only begun to gain their full potentials with the elements. The Tru-Lan were still only growing and cloning simple members of their species as well as some more advanced battle Tru-lan made for ground combat. Ships were available, but scarce due to the lack of ability with the space element. On one occasion, a strange anomaly passed through the system that changed the way things worked, the way the Tru-Lan thought. It was something that they had never encountered before; the Great Storm.

The date was <121 AD>, the beginning of a new chapter in Tru-Lan life. When Goghth first encountered this strange substance it appeared to be nothing more than some floating gelatin. Goghth watched it for many cycles of Tru-Lan history. It eventually left, but left sizable deposits of itself throughout the Tru-Lan system. Goghth wondered what it really was; something told him that there was something else to it. He decided to biologically meld with it. Through this process, he was able to determine what it could do in the system, and for himself.

It had the ability to absorb energy, but not elemental energy, just energies as light and power from other systems. The Tru-lan were relatively safe, aside from the serious dimming effects that their suns encountered. Goghth could use it to mask his presence, should he ever need to escape again. Unfamiliar with the substance, Goghth did not know how to process it, or manufacture it. He took a risk, and started what is called the Tru-lan Tech Division of Matter. Although the Tru-Lan did not have much experience at all with matter, he figured this would be their chance to expand their horizons. He called for a specialized breeding of 10 Tru-lan with all of his knowledge of the blackvoid. The leader of this team was named Nium Rasfari, who has a school today named after him. This eventually led to several other technological advancements in the fields of spaceships, weapons, and espionage. But the discovery led to problems as well. The Tru-Lan weren’t the only civilization who desired such a powerful advantage. This is when they got involved in the strife now remembered as the Kryjahs Invasion, the beginning of the Blackvoid Wars.

In a daring battle (Kiril's Gambit), the Tru-Lan were able to persuade other nearby systems to join them under their great general, Kiril. Converging under the command of Goghth, several nearby Empires pushed back the Kryjahs invaders, destroying their oppressors, and freeing up many Blackvoid deposits in the area.

Government:

The Coordinators:
The Coordinators that follow have most of the power in the system. They even assign the mages to their positions, although that mainly depends on who embodies the essence of a particular magical element.

Name: Graam Qu’lar
Rank: Coordinator of Space Goghthn AAA first class, EG/SP
Duty: He is the tactical mastermind of the Battle Fleet Redemption. He is currently stationed on the Galactic Cruiser Requisition. When the time arises to remove a thorn in the side of the Tru-lan, he will be there.

Name: Ne’kar Oolan
Rank: Coordinator of Diplomacy Goghthn AAA first class, LE
Duty: Usually the man to handle all foreign affairs. The only affairs he will deal with directly are when they involve the Reid Empire or the Kalikari Dominion. He does not have any permanent station.

Name: Arck T’ar
Rank: Coordinator of Trade Goghthn AA second class, SP/EA
Duty: He is the official who makes all the trade agreements with neighboring empires involving resources. Those resources primarily consist of ships, ship drives, raw materials, and entertainment. Other tasks are passed on from him.

Name: Utem Nosfar
Rank: Coordinator of Defense Goghthn AA first class, EA/EG/LE/SP
Duty: He is more or less the local constable of the Tru-lan home system. Utem is the most qualified person in the Tru-lan Empire as far as military training goes. Why he hasn’t been allowed to hold a space travel position is unknown.
The Mages:
Name: Moor T’ar
Rank: High Mage of Energy Myyrsin AAA, EG
Duty: His title gives it away. Moor is the twin brother of Arck T’ar, the Coordinator of Trade. Being blessed with the magical essence of energy, he commands all the energy in the empire. He is also the local administrator at the Academy on Emprat.

Name: Isaar Lilac
Rank: High Mage of Earth Myyrsin AAA, EA
Duty: Performs the duties involved with being the administrator at the training academy on Dumak. Many people find his appearance repulsive, so he will seldom visit the public in person. Only the other mages have been able to hold a conversation with him without crying in fear.

Name: Jericho
Rank: High Mage of Space Myyrsin AA, SP
Duty: The only reason this person hold this rank is because the essence of space chose him as a host. His constant arrogance and refusal to change his name to something proper have left the coordinators no reason to promote him further. He has never done anything for the good of the people and the academy on Praxus is a mess. Only Goghth can tell us why he has been blessed.

Name: Goghth Nemus Jintaar
Rank: High Mage of Life Prophet
Duty: When Goghth needs to make a public appearance, he becomes the host of his power. Since Goghth is the spirit of life and the greatest god in the empire, Nemus is considered to be the holiest character in the home system, and many others. The name Goghth precedes his own to signify such a great blessing. He is in charge of the academy on Khu’mar, the home world.

Foreign Policy:

The Tru-Lan have begun forming alliances with the Reid Empire, the Luminescent Ring, and the Kalikari Dominion.

Domestic Policy:

Society:

Languages:

While the Tru-Lan are capable of, and do use, normal speech, they are also in possession of psychic powers which they use to communicate with each other, and to their collective super-conscious, Goghth.

Religion:

To the Tru-Lan, Goghth is god, and as such, they need not waste time worshipping a false idol. Goghth is the creator and destroyer, and it is to he that the Tru-Lan send sacrifices of life energy to. This 'religion' of sorts is unstructured in the typical sense, since the object of Tru-Lan worship is with them at all times.

Castes:

Economy:

Trading Blackvoid and precious metals, the Tru-Lan are interested in life energy, which they steal from other sentient beings. This energy is used to allow the Tru-lan to exist outside of their quantum zone. Alongside such life energy, quantum drives are traded for as well.

Military:

This is what the Tru-lan are known for. Their giant ships are alive, and have the ability to go into battle on their own if necessary. Usually the only reason personnel is placed on each ship is to heal wounds and watch for un-wanted guests. Some of the Tru-Lan's most highly ranked officers are ships.

Major Population Centers:

Chronic Problems:

There is a small asteroid cluster near the outskirts of the system. The people who live there are like a cancer to Goghth, literally. Goghth’s hatred has been suppressed over the years, but not forgotten. This area is the result of such suppression. The rebels dwelling there find ways to make trouble both in Tru-Lan space others in other Empires. They have all the same potential of normal Tru-lan, but are not linked to Goghth, therefore they run wild.
