The Saurian Defense Pact

Overview:

The Saurian Defense Pact is mostly a Military Alliance held together by the Saurians (both human and Saurian) that consists of three colonies that were once under Earth's wing in another dimension. Since they have crossed over, they have become independent and federated worlds which have joined together in a Military and Political alliance to fight an Enemy that had threatened them 2300 years ago. During those days, Sauria and the other two planets: Heidelberg and New Seattle; had engaged in a War with a race of Humans known as the Dark Ones. After the campaign, they had just forged their Defense Pact and now serve as Guardians of the Galaxy from the Dark Ones.

Technology:

The technology of the Saurian Defense Pact is ever changing. Examples of the Defense Pact's Technology are the Blue Star Ships. Made 2300 years ago by Pixarians that incorporated human hyperdrives into their Pixarian-Zionite ships allowed for quick travel between the stars via hyperspace. The ships also use Tachyon cannons for weapons. Other important technological advances is genetic engineering, Rail Cannons, mass-drivers, neutron pulse cannons, biological computers, crystal data storage, tissue and organ cloning, as will as Ansible communication. Recent technological advances are organic hull matrices which they use on all their starships.

Magic:

Magic-users use a Life/Essence classification, since magic had come to the Saurian Defense Pact some 1,000 years after the Campaign against the Dark Ones. They seek to use magic to preserve life.

The Mage Corps were formed use Saurian mages in three departments: L, Q, and H. Department L is Law Enforcement in the Saurian Defense Pact. Department Q is the Quantum Mage department, and they are in charge of finding out what causes Quantum Storms. And Department H works with the Intelligence Directorate in gathering information about other mages in the universe.

Climate and Geography:

Sauria:
Given that Sauria orbits an F-2 star and is the fourth planet from the sun, Sauria has no cloud cover like Venus, and has weather systems that are more like Earth due to a hit from a large asteroid blasted from a Mass Driver from the Dark War. It hit the ocean and caused all the Water that was in the air to fall out and cause a world-wide flood.

The people, some Saurians, and some Dinosaurs escaped only to return to a planet that is like Earth. The weather is like Earth's weather. The Atmosphere is like Earth's, only the humans have arranged for increased oxygen production.

There is Five Major continents: one is a polar continent covered by ice and is located on top of the planet. Three continents are linked: two to the polar continent. The other two continents are islands in the Southern Hemisphere. The ratio of Water to Land on the planet is 6/4. 60% of the planet is covered in water. There is a mountain chain that is slightly higher than the Himalayas, it is located on Gurga, one of the Island Continents.

Heidelberg
Heidelberg is a small planet that orbits a G-2 type star. It has equal shares of land to water and has one major continent. It has mostly plains and small mountains with few volcanoes and faults and a subduction zone (the Sinking Valley).

New Seattle
New Seattle was once a planet that had a beautiful eco-system. Now it is a planet covered in skyscrapers, space ports, and various other buildings. It has six Continents, one on the Southern Pole, the others in the Southern and Northern hemispheres. The oceans are not devoid of life, but teeming with it, but there are few areas of green on New Seattle (parks). It always rains on New Seattle, everyday.

Flora and Flauna:

Sauria
On Sauria, the place is inhabited by Primeval Forests and swamps from the Jurassic Period. It's oceans are full with seaweed (kelp and other species). On land, the Saurians and humans introduced dinosaurs from both the Jurassic and Cretaceous Periods. Raptors of various species, T-Rex, Albertosaurus, Allosaurus, Almosaurus, Apatosaurus, and other various dinosaur species were brought here on an Ark and placed on New America. The city life has what would you expect: dogs, cats, birds and other animals.

Heidelberg
Heidelburg doubles as an Agricultural Planet. It's continent is a enviromentalist paradise. Most of the land is green with forests, grassland, and cultivated land. Small life forms that are reminiscent of cats are marsupials often hunt mice in the grassland. Other marsupial species include a land browser that acts like a sheep, and can herd readily but isn't a food item (it's meat is poisonous). There is some bison-like creatures with horns that are turned upward and are not marsupials. But what hunts these is an animal that is similar to the Tasmanian Wolf. A marsupial predator that is dog-like in appearance. In it's Sea lives a group of hyper-intelligent dolphins that often help the humans there with their research projects.

New Seattle
New Seattle has life that is more suited to an urban life-style. Small birds, cats, dogs, mice, rats, raccoons, and a species that was indigenous to the planet: the New Seattle Hopping Mouse.

History:

  • 1 A.C. The Saurian Expeditionary Force comes through a Wormhole from their Universe into this one. The S.E.F. find Sauria and colonized it with their Space Ark. The First Dark War begins.
  • 2 A.C. The Saurian Expeditionary Force tries to get help from the Empire. Because of Dark One Attacks, the Empire Agrees.
  • 3 A.C. The Saurian Expeditionary Force and the Empire drives the Dark Ones back into a remote section of the Galaxy.
  • 200 A.C. The Saurian Defense Pact is established. Both the Saurian Defense Pact and the Empire enjoy a Military and Trading Alliance.
  • 1000 A.C. On the heels of a Quantum Storm comes the Second Dark War. Now more powerful than ever, the Dark Ones hit the Empire as the Saurian Defense Force and the Blue Star Fleet attack the Dark Ones and their Capital Ships with new Computer Virus technology. But the Dark Ones had made alliances and helped the Fractured Empire fight each other.
  • 1010 A.C. The Second Dark War ends as the Saurian Defense Force forces the Dark Ones back to their corner of the Galaxy. The Blue Star Fleet, home of the Ranger Corps and the newly founded Mage Corps, becomes a force to patrol the Rim, ever Wary of the return of the Dark Ones.
  • 1700 A.C. Organic Hull technology successfully copied and reproduced. All ships built for the Saurian Defense Force uses organic hulls. A new breed of Blue Stars is built with the hulls.
  • 2300 A.C. The Saurian Defense Pact has sent ambassadors to the Four Worlds Hegemony, to Asgard, and Aendorian Space.

Government:

The Government of the Saurian Defense Pact is actually many. Three governments exist in the Saurian Defense Pact. Each one keyed to each world.

Sauria
Sauria is ruled in times of peace by a Constitutional Democracy where a panel of ten Commissioners, one from each city on the planet, go to discuss domestic policy and social issues. In times of War, the leader of the Saurian Defense Force becomes the Military Governor of the whole planet and gets the Wheels of Defense turning. Also, the other Worlds in the Pact send Liaisons to Sauria to better work with the Military Governor.

Heidelberg
Heidelberg is ruled by a Council in which representatives from each Caste: Science, Merchant, Religious, and Farmer; take part in the domestic policy. In times of War, the Council works with the Saurian Defense Force about conscripting young people into the Military and/or Ranger Corps. and planetary protection.

New Seattle
New Seattle is ruled by a Corporate Council were the big time Corporations of the Defense Pact meet together to help things run smooth. It is a ruled by a limited dictatorship where the ordinary citizen may speak out against their government.

Foreign Policy:

The Saurian Defense Pact acts as a friendly, helpful, and defensive nation to the others. They are willing to transport supplies, food, and goods to other nations in the galaxy.

Domestic Policy:

The domestic policy of the Saurian Defense Pact varies between planet to planet, but they all contain these common elements: They allow Freedom of Religion, Speech, the Right to a Peaceable Assembly, the Right to Bear Arms, the Freedom of the Press, humane criminal rights, and other items common to the Government of the United States.

Society:

Society in the Saurian Defense Pact is generally like that of the United States of America. Most people live in a Mobile Society, there is no class distinction (everyone is a member of the middle class) and the presence of Castes are only on Heidelberg. Families are important to the normal Saurian. Saurians typically live in family groups of six, and human families average four persons.

Languages:

There are three languages in the Empire: American English (which was somewhat preserved); Corp Speak (the Official Language of New Seattle), and New German (the Official language of Heidelberg).

Religion:

There is many religions in the Saurian Defense Pact that are too numerous to discuss here.

Castes:

Castes only exist on Heidelberg, and this is directly related in what field a native Heidelbergian enters. Their are four Castes: the Science Caste, the Merchant Caste, the Religious Caste, and the Farmer Caste. The Science Caste does the research, the Merchant Caste does commerce, the Religious Caste (which is somewhat Catholic in Nature) guides the people, and the Farmer Caste grows the crops.

Economy:

The Economy of the Saurian Defense Pact is a Free Enterprise Economy where anyone of any age of any race may aspire to become something. Their base monetary unit is the Credit and is always electronic in nature. As a result, the Saurian Defense Pact has one of the richest economies in the Galaxy.

Military:

The Military of the Saurian Defense Pact is made up of three distinct services: the Saurian Defense Force, the Ranger Corps, and the Mage Corps.

The Saurian Defense Force

The Saurian Defense Force is a large navy with the following classes of ships built by the Space Navy. The ships are:

  • Enterprise--Class Star Carriers. The Star Carriers carry Starfighters and spacefighters into combat, much like a Aircraft Carrier does. It is armed with two Tachyon Heavy Energy Cannons on opposite sides for defense, along with two Rail Cannons to the fore and a Mass Driver on the undercarriage for Anti-Capital ship weaponry. The star carriers use Hyperdrives for interstellar travel (worm holes were deemed to dangerous) and have a anti-matter/matter generator to power the main engines and auxiliary engines. The fleet has currently five star carriers using an Organic hull. They can crew 900 Saurian Defense Force personnel.
  • Tyrannosaurus Rex-Class Battleships. The T-Rex Battleships carry the most armament (the equivalent of two star cruisers) and are the least maneuverable. They pack a powerful punch as their namesake. The T-Rex is designed as a Heavy Anti-Ship starship and are packed with 20 heavy nuclear missiles, 35 neutron torpedoes, six large heavy energy batteries, and two Mass-drivers designed for Planetary Assualt. For defense against small ships, twenty small laser batteries cover the ship. The T-Rex Battleships use two Fusion Flux Generators to produce the power of one and half Anti-matter/matter generators. They also use a Hyperdrive which has been designed to be very efficient. The T-Rex hull design is made of a durable space alloy named Trianium which is tougher and more reflective than an organic hull structure. The fleet has about ten T-Rex battleships and can crew about 1,400 people. Note: The T-Rex battleships can also carry 500 Space Marines and use drop ships.
  • Allosaurus-Class Star Cruiser. The Allosaurus Star Cruiser is also an Anti-Ship star ship but built with Tachyon Pulse cannons and Meson Blasters (no mass drivers). For hip defense, the Allosaurus is equipped with five laser batteries. The Allosaurus Star Cruiser is built with an organic hull structure similar to the Blue Star Fleet's. It's hull is designed to evolve after every hit. It is also equipped with an Antimatter/Matter Generator and three Core Engines that propel the ship into Hyperspace. The hyperdrive is a Ensign Series X hyperdrive that was also designed for fuel efficiency.
  • Velociraptor-series Starfighters. The Velociraptor-series Starfighters look like Earth's F-14 Tomcats except they are more sleaker in design. Currently, the Velociraptor Starfighters are designed for long range (hyperspace) flight and carry a Fusion Flux generator. They are always equipped with two tachyon cannons and two laser cannons on the wings. They are built with Duranium alloys, but has a shield matrix for protection. The Velciraptor Starfighters also carry ten proton torpedoes for anti-starfighter use. The Velociraptors are the most maneuverable and agile fighters in the Galaxy.There are three Velociraptor models:
    • The VSF-1A - the Blue Space Combat fighter, used for Starfighter Combat.
    • The VSF-1J - The Jupiter-Base model. Dark Green for better camouflag, this Fighter can be equipped with concussion missiles instead of Proton Torpedoes.
    • The VSF-2S - The Black stealth fighter, the Velociraptor Stealth Fighter is used for reconnaissance and first Strike Missions and are a valuable part of the Blue Star Fleet.

The Blue Star Fleet
The Blue Stars are frigate-sized agile craft built with Organic hulls. They are designed to look like large blue space planes with two wings and three powerful fusion cannons: one on each side of the wing and one in the nose. They are the Galaxy's first defense against the Dark Ones and are manned by the Ranger Corps and the Mage Corps. They can carry three squadrons of Stealth Fighters into battle. They are the most agile frigate class ships in the Galaxy.

The Intelligence Directorate
The ID gathers information about the other Empires and helps formulate battle strategies against them. With Department H of the Mage Corps helping them, they are shadows on other planets' cities.

The Ranger Corps
The Rangers of the Saurian Defense Pact stand as watchers for the Dark Ones and often patrol the Rim and act as Peacekeeping Forces between other Empires. They seek to gather intelligence about the Dark Ones and potential allies. They will often go on scout missions into another Empire's territory just to search for any sign of the Dark Ones. The other Empires are uneasy with an alien force patrolling their space, but will often leave the Blue Stars alone. The Ranger Corps is made up of both Saurians and Humans, and are open to other races to join them (because the Dark Ones are a common enemy after all).

Sports and Leisure:

The people of the Saurian Defense Pact often have skiing tournaments, Football games, golf games, and tennis all around the Pact. Other ways is holovision, Art Galleries, Theater (Shakespeare is very popular), and domestic opera. Plus, James Hodge is one of the most widely read Authors in the Pact.

Major Population Centers:

Sauria City, on the Planet Sauria, has a large Space Port in the center where merchant vessels come to trade. It has an Opera House, five hospitals designed for xeno-medicine and domestic medicine, six Holovision theaters, twenty high-class restaurants (ten serve human food, ten serve Saurian Food), and the Council Building.

New Seattle is just one big city with many space ports, factories, refineries, merchant stores, and stadiums. It is the planetary equivalent of New York City.

Chronic Problems:

The problems with the Saurian Defense Pact are many.
  1. Space Pirates that plague the Pact's commercial shipping; they search for slaves, run drugs, and steal cargo. The Saurian Defense Force has dispatched fifty Allosaurus class star cruisers and fifty Velociraptor squadrons to deal with the problem. So far, the ID has found one secret Pirate base and the Saurian Defense Force is sending in a Task Force to secure the base.
  2. The Four Worlds Hegemony is afraid of the Saurian Defense Pact and relations with them are currently strained.
  3. There is a suspected Dark One Base somewhere in Aendorian Space.
  4. And there is talk of rebellion. The Communist Rebellion are lurking somewhere on a mining base in a nearby Asteroid Field. The ID suspects that these Communists are seeking to take over the Saurian Defense Pact and start an Expansionist Campaign.
