Dawn Alliance (Bre-an Republic)

a.k.a. HDC- Heavens Dawn Community, a.k.a Member or Lesser Dawn Alliance.

Founding member of the Greater Dawn Alliance.

Overview:

One of the three founding members of the Dawn Alliance the Bre-an Republic originates in the Star System known as Heavens Dawn. This is the star system where the first diplomats met and signed the constitution that created the greater union. The republic is made up of many different planets and colonies within the systems of the member empire. Since the creation of this Greater union the Bre-an republic has welcomed the other members in with open arms. The Bre-ites think of the other races, and empires, in the Greater Dawn Alliance as their brothers and sisters. As a testament to this the inter-racial marriage rate has already reached 15% between the Bre-ites and most other member empires.

The "official" Republic has existed for over 600 years, although due to an extended (and rare) quantum storm the ability to physically travel to the other colonies was lost for over 250 years, although communication was continued.

The Bre-an Republic has risen up out of hundreds of years of war with the Vurog, and has faced the possibility of defeat many times in the past. Currently the Vurog are completely defeated and pose no direct military threat to the Bre-an Republic or the Dawn Alliance.

The major race of the Bre-an Republic is a humanoid race known as the Bre-ites (there are a few individuals from the race of the Vurog that are loyal to the republic and the Dawn Alliance but they make up less then 0.0002% of the Alliance population). The race is basically human with a few exceptions. The first of which is the ability to comfortable live and work underwater. This ability is strong but, like many ocean going mammals, the Bre-ites can not stay submersed indefinitely, usually up to 12 hours. Also, the race has developed a clear (undetectable) membrane that covers their eyes, which keeps out salt, metal particles, and sand (this makes them well suited for other harsh environments as well). Because of this ability the race is just as much at home in the water as they are on dry desert lands where wind blown sand is prevalent. In addition to these abilities the race has developed minor powers of empathy, which allows individuals to detect certain basic emotions, such as; fear, hate, love, hunger, etc. This ability combined with the great sense of individualism makes the race extremely resistant to mental control by psionics or any other forms of mental domination (although this does not prevent the use of the empathy power from other Bre-ites).

The Vurog are a race of barbaric green skinned pig like people that wage a continual war of terrorism against the Bre-an Republic and the Greater Dawn Alliance. They are described in greater detail within the section entitled chronic problems.

The basic family unit of the Bre-ites is not very large. It is usually the immediate family (mother, father, and children). Anything greater than this has never been strongly practiced, although there are communities formed by many families. Because of this basic family unit, and many unpleasant experiences in the past, and the belief that large cities do not allow the individual to grow, there are no cities in Bre-ite culture. Every family or individual is located in a rural area (this is not to say that they are always very far apart, sometimes located as close as several yards and sometimes as far as several miles), with the exceptions to this being military bases, space stations, and floating or orbital cities. Despite this every citizen is very involved with the local community and keeps in contact with his neighbors and the rest of the government. With teleportation technology common throughout the Bre-an Republic (and efforts are underway to incorparate this technology into the other member empires of the Greater Dawn Alliance) this is not very difficult at all, so social interaction is actually just as (or more so) frequent and common as most other races (or empires).

Because of the Bre-ites natural empathic powers, martial arts training, and training in the manipulation Rucla (chi) most Bre-ites are excellent diplomats, healers, and warriors.

Technology:

The technology level of the Dawn Alliance (Bre-an Republic) is very advanced in some areas, such as Robotics, Physical matter manipulation (Teleportation), communications, and environmental sciences. The Dawn Alliance technology is extremely compatible with nature and it’s natural surroundings. The science of Environmental accommodation and robotics have been advanced greatly during the time of the "Hashnak" (Great Storm that darkens the skies and brings change). Communications advanced greatly from the beginning of the Dawn Alliance and is seen as one of the two most advanced fields. This technology works by "ripping" a whole in this dimension to a parallel one, that in theory, exist through out the galaxy and universe. The communication waves travel there at a speed of 8.9 X 10^4 times the speed of light.

The technology level is the same for every planet in the Alliance, although there are many potential colonies that have not yet been truly colonized. The drive technology is currently at a level that is below light speed travel and utilizes high performance nuclear drives (which achieves a speed of 70% of the speed of light), so colonization is very difficult. The time taken to travel to the 4 other colonized systems was (on the average) about 43 years but has now been improved to 23 months. Because of this very few physical trips are made to the other systems, but communications is excellent between each system.

Since the participation in the Dawn Alliance each of the member empires (according to the laws of the constitution) have combined their scientific and magical knowledge into one large database.

Magic:

There are many pre-republic records of the existence of magic within the Heaven’s Dawn system. But it appears that it slowly depleted itself, and eventually disappeared, after the destruction (which cause is still unknown) of one of the moons of (the gas giant) Renessa, which occurred shortly before the "Great Recreation". Occasionally a scholar appears who has claimed to be able to control the forces of magic, or an archeological team will discover a magic artifact, but these things are very few and very far between. It is thought that the zone would support magic use but the desire and knowledge to wield it has disappeared over the years.

Since the creation of the Dawn Alliance scholars, mages, and scientist have tried to replenish the magic in the Bre-an Republic. Though magic was not common to the Bre-ites it was not hard to become accustomed to, since it was seen are just another extension of Rucla. The Bre-ites, with the help of the great magical races of the Dawn Alliance, were easily able to integrate magic and technology into their everyday lives.

Size:

The member empire of the Bre-an Republic currently contributes 5 star systems to the greater union of the Dawn Alliance. The home system is called Heaven’s Dawn. The others (in order of discovery/colonization) are Crysteel, Tempus, Reznor, and Vanguard.

Star: Heavens Dawn: This is the home system of the only major race in the Bre-an Republic and also houses the capitals of the Republic and the Dawn Alliance. All of the planets and moons are colonized, at least in some capacity.

I, HD (Prirg): A toxic atmosphere planet, but has been lightly colonized and houses several very large military installations.

II, HD (Kilir): A terran desert planet that has a high level of resources. There is one major land mass on this planet with no oceans or seas, only small lakes and a few rivers.

III, HD (Darot): A terran planet in every way, with two moons. This planet was chosen as

the capital planet for the entire greater union due the name of one of it’s moons, it’s beauty, it’s size and climate, and archeological sites on the second moon.

III, HD, A (Atlantis): this moon is the standard barren moon but does have an atmosphere that does provide a measure of climate control.

III, HD, B (Gideon): This volcanic moon has a thick atmosphere of toxic gases

And is very harsh to equipment and individuals. It is colonized, but by domed cities (like Atlantis). Oddly enough, archeologists have recently found some ancient artifacts on this moon.

IV, HD (Rirk): This planet is terran in most ways. It, like Kilir, has no large oceans or seas. Drawing its water from large underground rivers and a few large lakes on the surface. It is also home to race of large squirrel known as the Rowcon (with the intelligence of a "bright" dog) that has become a popular pet. The planet has one moon, which is barren.

IV, HD A (Ryc): This moon is a typical uninhabitable barren moon that has been colonized with the use of "covered" dwellings and domed cities. It is the main operational base for the Dawn Alliance Special Forces Units.

V, HD (Renessa): This planet is a huge gas giant. The only difference between this and other standard gas giant planets, is that it still puts off a large amount of heat. Which allows many of its moons to support terran conditions.

V, HD, A (asteroid belt): This asteroid belt is believed to be what remains of the moon known as Mnak.

V, HD, B (Clydenestra): This moon is a basic uninhabitable moon that has a thick layer of ice that surrounds the surface. A deep layer of frozen nitrogen lies underneath, which makes a beautiful sight from the home planet. It has no atmosphere to speak of and only supports colonist through the use of "covered" dwellings and domed cities.

V, HD, C (Silvan-ri): This moon is a standard uninhabitable moon, and holds it’s population in very large domed, subterranean, structured cities, and covered dwellings.

V, HD, D (Immortus): This terran moon is a very beautiful lush moon with thick forest and beautiful shallow seas. A race of people are native to this world that are similar to a type of dinosaur/human hybrid. They have no names for themselves, so are called only immortans, and are extremely few in numbers (only around 580 at last census). They are not members of the Dawn Alliance but will be defended as members, and have asked that the Alliance allow their race to "die off" peacefully.

V, HD, E (Bre-an): This moon is the home planet of the Bre-ites (the race of the Dawn Alliance). It is terran with many large oceans and seas. It houses the seat of government and military command.

V, HD, F (Klascia): This is a moon that is brown in color and actually has oxygen in the atmosphere (what little atmosphere it has) but is too cold and barren to support any forms of life. Although it has been colonized through the use of subterranean networks and covered dwellings.

V, HD, G (Vortex): This planet appears black from the surface of the other moons, and can only been seen as a void in space. It is a terran moon and does support life, but has extremely violent electrical storms and volcanic activity. It has 3 major land masses and no islands (due to constant corrosion from the violent seas). The seas consist of a type of "heavy" mineral water that is rich in resources. It has colonist on the planet and is a major industrial center and system defense base, despite the dangers.

VI, HD (Careogwyn): A very large planet that supports no indigence life forms. It has been colonized through great expense and has vast oceans of frozen carbon monoxide and nitrogen, and open deposits of Iridium. It has four moons, one of which appears to be a captured asteroid, the second a tundra moon with volcanic activity, and the other two barren moons.

VI, HD A (Tanith): This planet is covered by frozen rock and very shallow frozen seas of ammonia and hydrogen. This Moon is colonized and does house one of the largest weapons and ship design factories in the system.

VI, HD B (Rira): This moon is nothing more than a captured, very large (8 miles in diameter) asteroid with no atmosphere. It has been colonized in subterranean networks, and dwellings, and houses many early warning and advanced radar stations. It also houses a large shipyard.

VI, HD C (Droido): This moon is a basic uninhabitable moon but it does have some internal pressure and heat, so the surface is not completely frozen. This planet houses the Largest shipyard in the system (and the Alliance) and is home to the second largest orbital weapons platform in the system.

VI, HD D (Frodo): This moon is much like its brother moon Droido, but has a canyon and crater covered terrain. With certain elements in the atmosphere giving the moon a beautiful blue or purple color. It is also rich in many minerals.

VII, HD (Mackus): This planet is a very large gas giant planet. It has many floating and orbital cities, and is a very large mining colony.

VII, HD A (Black Hawk): This planet puts out an invisible electrical current to the planet Mackus. Because of this, special covered dwellings and domed cities are needed on the surface of the planet. This moon houses the science/research colony that discovered the advancement of Teleportation.

VII, HD B (Lorin): This is a very large (as far as moons go) moon that is t he standard frozen uninhabited moon.

VII, HD C (Storms): This moon has a large amount of gold and uranium deposits on the surface and many subterranean iron deposits. It also puts out a large amount of heat that allows its atmosphere to be livable (but not very pleasant) for short periods of time. This is also a very important mining colony.

VII, HD D (Mylonna): This is a moon with a very toxic environment and thin atmosphere. It appears red and orange from orbit.

VII, HD E (Coadien): This moon is frozen and covered with millions of large craters. It has a dark silver appearance from orbit.

VII, HD F (Liryn): This moon is a Terran planetoid that has maintained a livable biosphere despite its distance from the large gas giant Mackus. It is thought to be because of its extremely volatile core and a light layer of gold in the atmosphere that it was able to sustain life. It is a terran moon in every way and having the standard flora and fauna (for the one exception see Flora and Fauna). This moon also holds the orbital space station that is the way point for the Star Treader cruise line.

VIII, HD (Tubo): known as the "wondering planet" because of its irregular orbit. This small planet is believed to be a once terran planet that, for some reason, escaped the orbit of another star and was captured by this system. It is completely barren but does show some trace elements of water and other terran elements. It is colonized by a vast network of subterranean corridors and dwellings. There are very few surface dwellings, because of the large amount of meteor activity. This planet also houses a very large military base.

Star: Crysteel: This was the first system outside of Heaven’s Dawn to be colonized. Only one of the planets, and three moons in the system are colonized. Although the Alliance does have a military base on the last planet in the system.

I, Ctl (Bleollyn): This planet is a small radiated planet with low mineral content.

II, Ctl (Gamyr): This planet is also radiated but is a mineral rich planet and has large deposits of gold and ele-iron. It has two moons.

II, Ctl A (Owaenyc): This moon is the basic uninhabitable type. It has a low level of mineral resources and has an unusually high gravity for its size.

II, Ctl B (Owac): This moon has a toxic atmosphere and a great many sulfur geysers on the surface. This planet is also home to a type of lizard.

III, Ctl (Crysteel): This planet was the first one to be colonized and is what the system is named after. It is a very large planet but has only a slightly greater gravity than most normal terran planets. The planet is a great tundra planet, with the temperature being a constant 30 degrees ferinhite through out the planet. It is a beautiful planet and the many frozen plans and seas seem to be moving bodies of crystal. This planet is colonized by a group of 28,000 settlers. It has only one moon.

III, Ctl A (Sinry): This moon is a basic frozen desert moon but with very little terrain feature. One interesting thing to note is that the extreme upper atmosphere has developed a covering of ice. It is theorized that this moon would be the easiest in the Alliance to terra-form, thanks to this protective barrier of ice. This moon is colonized by the standard domed cities, covered dwellings, and subterranean networks by a group of 14,000 settlers.

IV, Ctl (Rhyn): This planet is has a terrain that is frozen and many of the ground area is "shattered" or broken off into small particles and ice fragments. To make matters worse this planet has an atmosphere with winds of up to 100 mph. These winds pick up the shards of ice and drive them through the atmosphere, which makes it very dangerous. Oddly enough a lower life form has developed on this planet despite the hostile atmosphere. This planet has 3 moons. This planet also houses a small military base (early warning and astrogation).

IV, Ctl A (Bedrild): The basic moon, it has very low gravity and low mineral resources. It is lightly colonized.

IV, Ctl B (Crylith): This moon is much like it’s brother moon Bedrild, but has a little higher gravity and is a little larger. This moon is lightly colonized

IV, Ctl C (Jerigolath): This moon is a volcanic moon that shoots out steams of lava up to a mile in space. It has no atmosphere to speak of and has a high gravity and very rich mineral resources. Recently, through the use of probes, a type of large insectoid was found to live on this planet. It is not currently colonized but is slotted to be the next colony established in this system.

Star: Tempus: This is the second star system colonized and was found through orbital telescopes at about the same time as Crysteel was found, it is just that the trip took 2 ½ years longer. It has 3 planets (one of which is colonized) and 4 moons (3 of which are colonized).

I, Tmp (Treal): This planet is has a toxic atmosphere, great winds, high gravity, a two hour day, and a very high level of atmospheric pressure. It also has an abundance of gem deposits, and thanks to the factors mentioned above they are the most beautiful and useful gems in the Alliance. Currently there are no colonists here, with only remote mining probes taking advantage of the wealth of gems and crystals. It has one moon.

I, Tmp A (Onacutram): due to the close proximity to the star, this planet is completely uninhabitable. As a matter of fact the entire moon is nothing more than a body of molten rock in space.

II, Tmp ( Tempus): This planet is completely terran, and has a surface that is 93% covered by water. It was easily adapted to by the Dawn Alliance and has a population of 14,000. It is also home to the Ocarew whale. It has 2 moons.

II, Tmp A (Kedoirid): This moon is terran in every way but has no native animal life forms. The gravity here is above the normal standards for a moon/planet of this size, but it is very mineral rich. This planet has 300 colonist on it currently.

III, Tmp B (Ediran): This moon is a completely barren planetoid, there are colonist here (1200) but mining is very difficult due to the very unstable (fragile) soil conditions. This planetoid also houses an orbital ship docking platform.

III, Tmp (Adwoejan): This planet is 50% seas of liquid hydrogen and 50% land. It has a very mountainous and rocky terrain and a copper and neon atmosphere. It supports no life and is not colonized, it does have one moon.

III, Tmp A (Galeidric): A desert moon that has a large amount of copper mixed with other elements in the atmosphere to make it look yellow from orbit. It has large arctic regions at its poles. It is colonized by 1800 colonist.

Star: Reznor: this system has been colonized for the last 23 years. It has 2 has giants and 33 moons. Two of these moons are colonized (and are the only two named) and there is currently no military base in this system. </P>

I, Rzn (Driwin): This is a gas planet with a large set of rings and many small asteroid belts that orbit the planet. It has 12 moons, one of which is colonized. Not all of the moons will be listed below as they have not been adequately explored or even named.

I, Rzn J (Gwowyn): This moon is terran in every way and has the standard life forms, but is 65% land. It has about 14,000 colonist.

II, Rzn (Ciran): This is another gas giant that doesn&rsquo;t have as much debris as Driwin or is as large but it does have more moons (16).

II, Rzn C (Reznor): A moon that is terran as far as the atmosphere goes, but is completely mountainous with many small deserts. Ironically the poles are the only forest places on the planet with the equator being very hot (around 180 degrees).

Star: Vanguard: This planet was only colonized 7 years ago so the inhabitants are still setting up the basic colonies. It has two planets, and 1 moon. With only one of the planets being colonized.

I, Van (Vanguard): This is a very large terran planet that somehow has normal gravity. Ancient alien artifacts have been found recently. This planet is lightly colonized and awaits further colonist and researchers to continue the effort. It has one moon.

I, Van A (Gala): this moon is a terran moon but has very violent storms and a thick humid atmosphere. These aspects give it a white and blue appearance.

II, Van (Kiranad): this gas giant is very large (even for gas giant standards) and has no moons.

Population:

Currently the population of the Bre-an Republic is 27.5 billion, with the population of the Dawn Alliance being 181.5

Climate and Geography:

See the listing of size

Flora and Fauna:

The life forms of the various planets are, for the most part, standard life forms for terran planets. There are several exceptions to this, the first of which being the Rowcon. The Rowcon is a large race of semi-intelligent squirrels that are native to the planet of Rirk. They are very gentle creatures that have become popular pets. The Immortans of the moon Immortus, is a race of dinosaur humanoids that have a large row of bony plates running down their backs. They are a gentle, philosophical, and highly intelligent race. Despite all of this they live in small villages of wooden huts and do not wish to join the Dawn Alliance. They are very helpful and hospitable to any tourist, but do wish to be left alone. It seems that this race wishes to allow itself to die out, and is (unfortunately) well on its way (with only 580 remaining).

The Ocarew whale of Tempus, is a large whale about the size of a standard earth whale, but has a few differences. First of all the female of this race is very different from the male. The female has the form of a giant mammalian worm that roams close to the shores of the major land masses. Also, the male has a large set of horns on the forehead and tail. He also has a large "pocket" on his underbelly, which is believed to catch fish to feed to the female during mating.

The mining bug of Jerigolath, a large (7&rsquo; tall) bug that lives on the hostile world of Jeiglath. It has a basic humanoid shape but is much more broad and has two clawed "arms" that allow it to dig through the surface with ease. It has only animal intelligence and has not been studied any further.

The Vurog are a race of pig like humanoids with green skin. They are intelligent, but have only advanced to a level of technology equal to the pre-alliance republic through theft and trade with the Bre-ites. They have been at war with the Bre-ites ever since there first meeting 2000 years ago. The have been engaged in many wars with the people of Bre-an and then the Bre-an Republic, but have never had full control of the home planet of the Bre-ites. They have rejected any offers to peace talks and feel that the Bre-ites and all other races are put in the system only as slaves. They hide through out the system and engage in terrorist activities against the Dawn Alliance. There are a few (very few) peaceful exceptions, which the government has given domains (small reserves), on the planets of Liryn, Kilir, and Bre-an. They are no longer a direct military threat and have not been for around 500 years. Their terrorist activities also grow weaker each year.

The Gliding Lizard of Owac, is a basic four legged lizard that is about 5 feet long in length and about 1 foot tall. It has developed a large fleshy membrane between it&rsquo;s from and back legs, that provide it will a rather unusual way of "flying". The Gliding Lizard waits at the opening of a large sulfur geyser, and when the geyser erupts it is lifted up into the air. From there it expands its fleshy membrane to glide long distances. With the longest recorded one being at 6 miles.

The Shell mammal of Rhyn (in the Crysteel system) is a fur bearing mammal that has developed a hard shell on its back and limbs, and a very think coating of fur on its underbelly. It crawls across the planet on all four appendages and doesn&rsquo;t seem to have a true neck. The interesting thing about this creature, is that it takes of group of five to mate. If this mating is successful than it usually results in a liter of 30 offspring.

The Sword Spider of Liryn is a large spider (about 6&rsquo; tall) that lives high up in the trees. It has two appendages in front of the head that has very sharp chitaneous edges that resemble swords. It is a very dangerous creature that will hunt humanoids if one invades the territory of the Sword Spider.

The moon of Atlantis has a type of fungal plant that grows on it that is made into a drug that greatly accelerates the re-growth of bone and tissue in most humanoids. It was discovered by a scientist by the name of Sin-Jef.

History:

The Bre-an Republic was formed over 600 years ago during the Last purge of the Vurog. The people were on good terms before then but were all concentrated in family unites (not nations or kingdoms) so were hard pressed to co-operate without the leadership of a central government. Once the people of Bre-an were together, they advanced quickly and soundly defeated the Vurog. They advanced to a level of post industrial technology with a great emphasis on communications technology. Just when the other major planets and moons in the Heaven&rsquo;s Dawn system were colonized, a quantum storm occurred and lasted for 250 years. This storm made the development of new technology almost impossible (except for a few minor exceptions) and rendered space travel impossible, but did not effect (inter)planetary communications. After the storm was over the Bre-an Republic continued to colonize the remaining planets and moons in the system and expanded to the 4 nearby star systems.

The people of the Bre-an Republic (Bre-ites) have a long history of martial arts. In the early years of the history of Bre-an, the planet was overrun by the Vurog. Many small warlords and baronies had been established by the Vurog, which enslaved and controlled many of the Bre-ite families. To combat this, many families and communities of Bre-ites created styles or systems of martial arts. Today each family has it&rsquo;s own system or style and are all very similar and share many of the same ideas and principles. They are all both internal and external, with skill developed in Rucla (internal energy training or chi), physical conditioning, kata, and weapon use. All of the children of the families are taught that the purpose of the martial arts is to defend and strengthen the body, it should only be used to attack when no other option is available or to defend the life of someone else. Because of this training the Bre-ite martial arts (which are collectively known as Vanry) are related to Yorvot (Bre-ite religious belief) and are tightly interwoven. It is even a part of legend that it was taught to a family in the past by an angelic servant of the Great Creator. A basic form of martial arts, one that is compatible with the styles/systems of most or all families, is taught in the schools. Because of this training the military of the Dawn Alliance is very effective in ground combat

Government:

The Greater Republic of the Dawn Alliance has a republic form of government. This union wide government only contends to constitutional and inter-member empire matters, and allows each member empire to maintain it's own local system of government.

The local member empire government of Bre-an is a republic form of government With each colony given 1 vote to a percentage of their population. The central government controls matters of defense, general law, Alliance economics, trade, treaties, interplanetary commerce, and a few other functions, with the other matters delegated to the individual planets and colonies. The government is very popular, with the ideals of honor, courage, diversity, unity, loyalty, and community being almost completely accepted and upheld. The only problem of disloyal opposition is from the Vurog people, who feguently harass trade and perform acts of terrorism. The government (central and planetary) takes a small role in the life of the average citizen, allowing them to experience life without any interference. Some of the central laws of the Bre-an Republic is as follows: every citizen (except for expectant mothers) must participate in the military before the age of 26, with the tour lasting a minimum of two years. The act of murder is a central offence, the interdiction of commerce is a central offense, treason is punishable by death, Slavery is against the central law, Etc. There are many more besides these and each member planet has it&rsquo;s own set of laws that fall into an accepted out line. The legal system is based on a trial by a council of 3 judges, with things working a little differently in the military courts. The leaders of the Government are chosen by election. They are elected from a group of candidates from each planet or colony. For the Leader of the Central government, he/she is elected for a 10 year term with no term limits (but they may be forcible retired).

The Bre-an Republic fully supports, endorses, and respects the laws that govern the Greater Dawn Alliance.

Foreign Policy:

All the member empires of the Dawn Alliance show themselves as only the greater union in diplomatic relations, and prefer to show the greater union as a whole, as a force of Diverse unity. It is a government and people that like to build and enrich itself, and expand peacefully. The Dawn Alliance is helpful to all other races or governments of good intention and honor, and is always open to trade believing that trade is an important part of peace. The people of the Dawn Alliance believe that help should be given to those who are too weak or unable to defend themselves. And to sit by and allow another to undergo harm is an act of cowardice, and dishonor.

Domestic Policy:

The Dawn Alliance is easy going, realizing that sentient beings should be able to pave their own path in life. The goal of the Dawn Alliance is not to rule it&rsquo;s citizens but to protect them and help them carve their own path. The Alliance realizes that taxes are a necessity and will levy no more than is needed at the time, for which all loyal citizens should feel that it is a proper responsibility to pay such taxes as they are going to increase their own freedoms.

The enforcement of a moral order on it&rsquo;s own people by the republic would not allow for the free choice in a citizens life, but there is a commonly accepted moral (and religion with common "basics") view that is held and encouraged by most of the Alliance. That is one of acceptance of others, tolerance, open-mindedness, and the realization that duty, faith, courage, integrity, and honor are important in a citizens&rsquo; life. The citizens of the Bre-an Republic are given the responsibility of freedom of speech, but with acceptance of others&rsquo; ideas. The police force is branch of the military, and is concerned with the areas of crime and counter terrorism/intelligence

Society:

The culture of the Dawn Alliance is one of diversity and unity. Each member empire accepts the members of other races and empires with equals. This has caused many of the member empires to develop a new society, one which is a combination of the best attributes of their own system and the societal systems of the other member empires. But, each member empire also maintains their own societal identity realizing that it is diversity that makes the greater union strong.

There still exist a class system in the Bre-an Republic, which is the Warrior class (or sometimes called the "life" or "professional" soldier). These individuals are raised from childhood to become warriors. But, besides this, the basic system of the Bre-an Republic is based around families and local communities. There are many versions of one single religion practiced (it is one religion that is viewed a little differently by each person), but since it is held as an extremely personal thing there are no large groups. There are many temples and worship centers that worship in much the same way. This does not mean that there are no "congregations", it only means that each congregation may share the same basic belief in the Great Creator but may differ greatly on specifics.

Languages:

The Bre-ites have only one language, but the Dawn Alliance as a greater union has many different languages with a union language developed by scholars that incorporates elements of every race and member empire.

Religion:

In the member empire of the Bre-an Republic religion is seen as a force that is to drive the person own and make him stronger. It is deeply acknowledged that there is a Great Creator, and that he has a personal relationship with every being. This relationship, though helped by law and example, is nurtured and expanded by the individual. The actual name of this religion is Yorvot and literally means "the way the Great Creator wills". Again, since faith (but not necessarily religion) is seen as something the individual nurtures (but not creates) for him or her self there is no problem with accepting most other religious views.

Castes:

The greater union of the Dawn Alliance has no union-wide caste system, but certain member empires may have some. This is acceptable as long as it does not violate any union wide laws and is seen as a way to maintain each empires identity.

In the Bre-an Republic the levels of society are that of Citizen (everyone is included and all males serve in the military for several years) and the Warrior classes. All other things are considered professions. Citizens from each class interact freely and often, with the classes being technically definable but not practically. Since freedom, to make a persons own successes and failures, is highly prized slavery is not appreciated and is against the Central law.

Economy:

All of the member empires of the Dawn Alliance have a single economic system, which is a highly efficient and reactive market economy. It is basically capitalist in nature with the currency being a type of coinage that exhibits the banner of the Dawn Alliance on one side and the flag ship of the Dawn Alliance (the D.A.S. Victory) on the other. The currency of the Dawn Alliance is unusual in that it also represents a certain amount of data that can be barter for services and goods in some empires (the Draa&rsquo;kwaloth homeworlds).

In the Bre-an Republic both male and female are treated equally, with the only exception being expectant mothers who do not have to join the military. Children stay in school until the age of 15 and then are free to continue their schooling at the university level, join the professional industry, or take their tour in the military. The only exception to this is the Warrior class, which consist of both male and female, which are trained as warriors (although they do get professional training as well) throughout their lives.

Military:

The Dawn Alliance has one single military force that represents every member empire of the greater union. The Union Defense Force is a perfect blend of magic and technology from through out the greater union, using the best technology and sentient from around the greater union.

he Dawn Alliance does have two special units that are common to the entire greater union. The first of which is knows as the Virtue, an elite group of commandos that are sent on special operations. The second group is known as the White Shield who helps in union internal defense and protecting inter-member empire trade routes.

Sports and Leisure:

In the Bre-an Republic physical sports of all types are enjoyed by everyone, especially swimming, mount riding, and the martial arts. A martial arts practice that is participated by many is known as "finding the way", and is a friendly test of an individuals or familys martial arts skill or technique. Theater and music is very deep and philosophical but with a strong emphasis on subtle humor. Each community, region, planet or colony member has its own set of festivals, but the Alliance has a celebration that is set on a day that represents the day that all the member empires of the Dawn Alliance came together, "The Day of Dawn". Leisure time is viewed as a good thing, and is necessary to help strengthen the individual and the greater good of the Dawn Alliance, but it should not interfere with ones loyalty to others or take away from his/her honor.

Major Population Centers:

Population centers through out the Dawn Alliance are clean, spacious, and very compatible with nature. Most centers exhibit aspects of most races and member empires of the Dawn Alliance.

For the most part there are no longer major cities in the Bre-an Republic, and when the term city is used in the above listing it actually refers to a large geographical area where a certain number of citizens live. This was true even before the technology of teleportation, but has been greatly improved since then. With most everyone living in what would be considered rural or wilderness areas. This is because it is felt that cities hinder one&rsquo;s individual growth, and promote the negative aspects in the people. The few exceptions to this are the moon of Bre-an, which keeps the seat of the Bre-an Republic government command. Also, some of the other exceptions to this are the floating cities in the ocean worlds and gas planets, and the space stations that orbit many worlds. But, these are very spacious and provide much privacy and space for its inhabitants, and have simulated wilderness areas.

Chronic Problems:

The biggest problem in the Bre-an Republic, at the moment is the problem of the Vurag people. They are involved in terroristic activities and would most likely help out any enemy government if given a chance. Also they have started to expand into nearby space and it is suspected that they have several asteroids converted to bases in the Heaven's Dawn system.
