The Dalurian Alliance

A.K.A. The Alliance

Overview:

The Daluran Alliance consists of three distinct empires: the Griakturans, a reptillian humanoid species wielding magic; the Tri'Katti, a silicon-based insectoid species whit a great command over technology; and the Alyrians, a non-corporeal species with psionic abilities. The Alyrian empire also includes a space-faring humanoid race that was created by the Alyrians called the Feroui and a pre-industrial avian race called the Trudani that was also created by the Alyrians. Until recently, these three empires were on shaky political terms with one another. Open hostilities seemed inevitable. Luckily, the leaders of the empires recognized that, with the state of modern weaponry, this would most likely result in mutual extermination, an event that none wished to see. It was therefore decided that the three empires would join together in a grand alliance, which they hoped would eventually lead a unification of their empires and the people. Ever since this decision, the three empires have been working to bring this about. The first step was to integrate the empires' militaries. Next they began a program of interspecial education to bring their peoples together. Thanks to efforts such as this, peace has flourished, and the empires have grown quite close. There remains some prejudice amongst the populations, but this has been steadily decreasing in severity over time.

Technology:

The Tri'Katti are the most technologically advanced species. Long ago, due to polution and over-crowding, they moved all industry to orbital bases and otherwise uninhabited moons and planets. Since then, they have advanced their technology at an increased rate; thanks to space-research. They have now reached a technology level about a century in advance of that found in the Star Trek universe. The Griakturans are on a vastly lower scale in terms of technology. Most advances in this area have been brought to them by the Tri'Katti. The Alyrians have little use for the advances of technology. However, their psionic abilities have allowed them to become masters of biological engineering. The Feroui are a technological race. They have not achieved the same level technological advancement as the Tri'Katti. Their technology is just slightly above that of Earth.

Magic:

Magic is practiced most by the Griakturans, who are highly versed in it's uses and rely upon it as the Tri'Katti and the Feroui rely upon technology. The Tri'Katti never deveolped magic, and the Alyrians use what would best be termed as psionics, or mind-powers.

Size:

The Alliance contains a total of 10 systems. 4 of these systems are controlled by the Griakturans. The Tri-Katti and the Alyrians each control 2 of the others. The remaining systems are being held for joint settlement. The Griakturans and the Tri-Katti have expanded their populations not only to the habitable worlds in the Alliance's sphere of influence, but to habitats on the other worlds and moons, as well. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Griakturan (Reptilian Humanoid) Systems: Tura - Yellow Star - 7 Worlds - Home System Raktan: Colony | 1 moon population: 150 million Raktan is a barren Mercury-like world. The colony began as a mining operation. It was a small operation due to the extreme closeness of the planet to the sun and the resulting levels of radiation. As the miners dug away more and more of the inside of the planet, the operation grew, and eventually, the miners began to bring their families with them. Over time, the mining operation became a thriving colony. Hethor: 2 moons - colonies on both Colony "Hethor Alpha" population: 250 million Colony "Hethor Beta" population: 50 million "Hethor" is the Griakturan word for Hell. The planet was renamed this when survey probes revealed that the entire surface was covered by an ocean of acid and that the clouds which perpetually hide the surface from view were gaseous metals and other substances. The prevailing theory is that the clouds are the result of the ocean's having dissolved metallic meteors that have impacted with the planet over the eons. The "Hethor Beta" colony began as a support base for the science station which orbits the planet. The station is devoted to dangerous reseach projects. Whenever an experiment goes awry, it is jettisoned to the surface. The "Hethor Alpha" colony is an industrial support complex for the massive industrial operations orbitting the planet. Industrial waste is now disposed of by dropping it to the surface. Drath: Colony | 4 moons - colonies on 2nd and 3rd Life Bearing Flora and Fauna: Mostly the same as that found on Terra. Creatures of Note: Dronji (plural, Dronjin): Winged semi-sentient primate species. A favored pet/companion of local Griakturans. Squirra (plural, Squirras): Flying squid-like creatures. Primary problem for colonists, due to the fact that they are large and aggressive enough to carry off and eat unfortunate settlers. Planetary population: 1 billion Colony "Drath Beta" population: 300 million Colony "Drath Gamma" population: 50 million Long known by the Graikturans to be a life bearing world, it was the first planet to be settled by those fleeing the problems of the home world. The Drath lunar colonies were also born at this time. When Griak was reclaimed using new technologies, many chose to leave and return to the home world. Asteroid Belt Griak: Home World | 1 moon - colony Life Bearing Flora and Fauna: Similiar to that of Terra. Creatures of Note: None decided as yet. Planetary population: 750 million Colony "Griak Alpha" population: 275 million Griak is the Griakturans homeworld. A millenium ago polution and overcrowding forced them leave the surface of their world. Many died in the exodus, but Griak Alpha colony was born as a result. The flight from Griak gave birth to the magics which made interplanetary travel viable and thus the colony at Drath was born. Eventually the magics became available for the Griakturans to reverse the damage they had done to their world and people returned to resettle it. Jhen: Colony population: 150 million The Jhen colony was born shortly after the colony at Drath. However, the thin atmosphere requires that the population live in biodomes, and the bleak, featureless terrain has caused most Griakturans to choose other locations for their homes. Terraforming procedures have begun, but as yet little progress has been made. Aria: 12 moons - colonies on 3rd, 5th, 8th, 9th, and 12th Colony "Aria Gamma" population: 200 million Colony "Aria Epsilon" population: 225 million Colony "Aria Lambda" population: 150 million Colony "Aria Mu" population: 25 million Colony "Aria Omicron" population: 75 million Aria is a Saturn-type gas giant. Kaktra: Colony | 2 moons - colonies on both Planetary population: 500 million Colony "Kaktra Alpha" population: 350 million Colony "Kaktra Beta" population: 75 million Kaktra is basically a large ball of rock is space. However, despite the complete lack of an atmosphere, Griakturans arrived in droves to settle due to the fantastic rock and ice formations to be found covering most of the surface. Alpha moon shares this trait with the planet. The colony on Beta moon was developed for the same reasons that much of California was. Precious stones and minerals were found and would be prospectors flocked to their dreams of getting rich quick.

Ta'Iyl - Blue-White Star - 5 Worlds Ta'Iyl was the first system targeted for colonization. The original settlers actually arrived after the system had already been settled. They awoke from stasis to find that technology had advanced greatly while they slept. After they had departed, a faster-than-light drive had been developed, and the system was colonized. Huge numbers of Griakturans flowed into the system, so the colonies expanded quickly. Fresa: 1 moon A Mercury-like world. Rasti: 3 moons - colony on 3rd Colony "Rasti Gamma" population: 50 million Rasti is an unstable world, though exactly how unstable was not known until recently. Scientists predict that the entire planet will shake itself apart sometime in the near future. Colonists on the lunar colony are being encouraged to relocate, though many are choosing to take their chances. Dan'Kali: Colony | 2 moons - colonies on both Planetary population: 150 million Colony "Dan'Kali Alpha" population: 75 million Colony "Dan'Kali Beta" population: 30 million Dan'Kali is completely devoid of life, though it has a suitable atmosphere to support it. Terraforming is going well, though the nutrification of the soil is taking longer than expected. Negshira: Colony | 7 moons - colonies on 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 7th Life Bearing Flora and Fauna: Similar to Terra in the Jurassic period. Creatures of Note: Dinosaurs Planetary population: 250 million Colony "Negshira Alpha" population: 100 million Colony "Negshira Beta" population: 90 million Colony "Negshira Delta" population: 150 million Colony "Negshira Kappa" population: 50 million Negshira was the first colony in the Ta'Iyl system. The moon colonies began not long after the original settlement was established. The "Negshira Kappa" colony was begun by the "original settlers" of Ta'Iyl. They were segregated when they first arrived in order to minimize the inevitable culture shock. Gashru: A Neptune-like world.

Thouras - Orange Star - 9 Worlds With the development of the faster-than-light drive, Thouras was quickly targetted by the ever growing number of Griakturan settlers, which swarmed into the system. Desira: A Venus-like world with about 10 times the atmospheric pressure. Felas: Colony | 1 moon population: 10 million Felas is a dismal place, racked by frequent meteor strikes. This helps keep the planet mineral rich, but it makes life hell for those living there. This has kept the population small, which is to the liking of those who are hardy enough to brave the dangers. The miners make a more than comfortable living through their labors. Ytrennan: Colony | 1 moon - colony Life Bearing Flora and Fauna: Similar to that of Terra, but Silicon-based as opposed to Carbon-based. Creatures of Note: Thani (plural, Thanit): A species (one of several) of crystalline oragnisms. This species is theorized to be a giant collective when in contact with each other. The theory states that they act somewhat like a network of computers. Each is an individual, but when "networked", they become more than the sum of their parts. Planetary population: 50 million Colony "Ytrennan Alpha" population: 100 million The Ytrennan colony was a long time in forming. The life on this world is silicon-based, rather than carbon-based, scientists convinced the Griakturan government to refuse settlers to colonize the planet while they studied it; a plan which gave birth to the colony on Alpha moon. Eventually, pressure from industry and settlers forced the government to allow limited colonization of the planet. Cretas: Colony | 3 moons - colony on 2nd Planetary population: 250 million Colony "Cretas Beta" population: 100 million Cretas has an unusually active upper atmosphere, making landing on and leaving the surface extremely hazardous. Ships were constructed to make it safer, but these ships were incapable of interstellar flight, and were inefficient for even interplanetary travel. Thus, was "Cretas Beta" born. It serves as a supply and trading center for the planet. Cretas itself was only settled because of the beautiful skies created by the atmospheric activity. New Griak: Colony | 2 moons - colonies on both Life Bearing Flora and Fauna: Virtually identical to that of Griak. Creatures of Note: None decided as yet. Planetary population: 650 million Colony "New Griak Alpha" population: 150 million Colony "New Griak Beta" population: 75 million New Griak was so named because it's biochemistry is virtually identical to that of Griak, even to the degree that many species were genetically compatible with counterparts from the homeworld. Sedra: 11 moons - colonies on 1st, 7th, and 9th Colony "Sedra Alpha" population: 150 million Colony "Sedra Kappa" population: 130 million Colony "Sedra Mu" population: 85 million Sedra is a Jupiter-like gas giant. Ialera: Colony population: 25 million Ialera is covered by an ocean of methane. Originally, settlement was rather high, because the ocean is quite beautiful, but the number of settlers has dwindled since the original settling of the planet. Accidental leaks (most likely the result of design flaws) have caused the destruction of more than a few biodomes, and though the explosions were fantastic, they didn't really attract settlers. The biodomes have since been reinforced and reengineered, but most prospective colonists are still worried, and consequently, few colonists have been choosing to settle here. Manitaro: 3 moons Poliara: Colony | 2 moons - colonies on both Planetary population: 450 million Colony "Poliara Alpha" population: 230 million Colony "Poliara Beta" population: 40 million Poliara was the first colony in the Thouras system. It was chosen to prevent a repeat of the mistakes the colonists had made in the Ta'Iyl system. There they established the colony before checking the biology of the ecosystem, resulting in many getting sick and dying from immune reactions. Poliara was established to give scientists a chance to study the life bearing worlds in the system before colonization was attempted.

Girdo - Binary Blue-White circling Yellow - 12 Worlds The decision to settle this system was a controversial one. By the time the possiblity was discussed, the Griakturans had already encountered the Tri'Katti and the Alyrians. Other systems were available, and perhaps more suitable, but the government did not wish to provoke an interstellar war over territory. The other available systems were located in disputed areas of space. In addition, the government had considered trading the Girdo system to the Alyrians in exchange for rights to other systems. In the end, however, it was decided that the system should be kept and settled by Griakturans. Nerah: Mercury-like world. Highly unstable orbit. It is believed that it may one day fall into it's sun. Shirangar: Colony | 1 moon population: 170 million Shirangar is a Mars-type world, but the water is in liquid form. Terraforming is planned to begin soon. Toru: 2 moons A Venutian world except with sulfuric acid in similar proportions in the atmosphere to that of Carbon Dioxide on Venus. Erudan: Colony | 1 moon - colony Planetary population: 400 million Colony "Erudan Alpha" population: 220 million An Terra-like world, Erudan appears to once have had abundant life. However, at some point in it's existence, the surface was contaiminated with a variety of extremely toxic substances. These substances are difficult to detect and identify, which resulted in the death of an entire colony attempt. The two ships, thinking it was safe, landed and discharged their occupants, who died shortly thereafter. Thirel: Life Bearing Flora and Fauna: Only the two below species. Creatures of Note: Flanta (plural, Flantir): This species lives off of the soil of Thirel. The Flantir spend their existence migrating around the planet's surface in immense herds. The Flantir hides are stronger than the strongest metal the Griakturans have been able to produce. The Griakturans have made several attempts to breed these animals off-world, but so far have had no success. Kralikta (plural, Kraliktan): This is a carnivorous hive-mind species. They feed on the herds of Flantir. Colonization of Thiral has been completely prevented by the Kraliktan, whose claws are capable of slicing through even the strongest Griakturan alloys. Only energy barriers have been able to stop them, but since the Kraliktan can easily burrow through the sandy soil, the shields must be constantly surrounding anyone on the surface, making mining and extremely hazardous job. Thirel is a scorched wasteland, much like Arachis in Frank Herbert's "Dune". Similar to Arachis, there is a valuable mineral on Thirel. However, the lifeforms on Thirel are far more hostile, making the extraction of this mineral much more hazardous. Derusai: 5 moons - colonies on 3rd and 5th Colony "Derusai Gamma" population: 160 million Colony "Derusai Epsilon" population: 95 million Derusai is a large ball of rock with an exeptionally high amount of tectonic activity. It is estimated that the surface is completely renewed from within the planet every 20-25 years, which would of course make colonization quite silly. Lieran: Colony | 3 moons - colony on 2nd Planetary population: 800 million Colony "Lieran Beta" population: 190 million Lieran is virtually a carbon copy of the planet Neptune. Midra: Colony | 1 moon population: 110 million Midra is a virtual clone of Pluto. Serto: 16 moons - colonies on 2nd-9th, 12th, and 16th Colony "Serto Beta" population: 80 million Colony "Serto Gamma" population: 100 million Colony "Serto Delta" population: 130 million Colony "Serto Epsilon" population: 100 million Colony "Serto Indi" population: 40 million Colony "Serto Kappa" population: 230 million Colony "Serto Lambda" population: 145 million Colony "Serto Mu" population: 180 million Colony "Serto Omicron" population: 30 million Colony "Serto Upsilon" population: 70 million Serto is a Jupiter-like gas giant. Gremlar: Colony | 7 moons - colonies on 3rd-6th Life Bearing Flora and Fauna: Similar to that of Terra, but far deadlier. Higher number of carnivorous plants and aggressive animals. Creatures of Note: Not decided yet. Planetary population: 100 million Colony "Gremlar Gamma" population: 200 million Colony "Gremlar Delta" population: 20 million Colony "Gremlar Epsilon" population: 50 million Colony "Gremlar Indi" population: 75 million The life forms on Gremlar are incredible dangerous, and life on the surface is not easy. Only the hardiest choose to dwell there. There are those which believe that a certain species on the planet is sentient. However, this theory is generally laughed down by the scientific community. Hariel: Uranus-like. Ystreda: 2 moons Saturn-like, including rings. Asteroid Belt: Military Bases throughout --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tri'Katti (Insectoid) Systems: Trikka - Yellow Star - 12 Worlds Reet: Colony population: 50 million Reet was a magnificent find for the Tri'Katti. It is a ball of absolutely pure iron beneath a thin layer of assorted materials. This top layer is theorized to have been the result of meteor impacts during the planets lifetime. Krit: 2 moons - colonies on both Colony "Krit Alpha" population: 25 million Colnoy "Krit Beta" population: 40 million Krit is a Venusian world, though its atmospheric pressure is much greater. The Tri'Katti are currently attempting to terraform the planet, and the Alpha and Beta colonies was created for that purpose. Trikka: Home World | 3 moons - colonies on all Life Bearing Flora and Fauna: Torkk (singular and plural) - A large arachnid, and a favorite as a pet, the Torkk is roughly the Tri'Katti equivalent of the Terran canine. Planetary population: 4 billion Colony "Trikka Alpha" population: 150 million Colony "Trikka Beta" population: 125 million Colony "Trikka Gamma" population: 60 million Trikka is a basically Terra-like world. The primary difference is that life on this world is silicon-based as opposed to carbon-based. Kikaru: Colony | 1 moon - colony Life Bearing Flora and Fauna: None decided as yet. Planetary population: 2 billion Colony "Kikaru Alpha" population: 175 million Kikaru is another Terra-like world, but it is only the size of Mars. Life on this world, like that of Trikka, is silicon-based. Trilla: 6 moons - colonies on 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 6th Colony "Trilla Beta" population: 100 million Colony "Trilla Gamma" population: 60 million Colony "Trilla Delta" population: 160 million Colony "Trilla Indi" population: 135 million Trilla bears a great resemblence to Jupiter's moon, Io, though it is closer in size to Mars. It is covered with so much volcanic activity that colonization of the surface would be virtually impossible, and certainly not worth the effort. Crolt: Colony | 2 moons - colonies on both Life Bearing Flora and Fauna: Relurr (Plural: Relurra) - A race of giant "butterflies," they bear a great behavioral resemblence to Terran dolphins, being known to aid travelers who are lost or in danger. It is believed that these beautiful creatures are sentient, but as yet no means of establishing contact has been found. Planetary population: 750 million Colony "Crolt Alpha" population: 150 million Colony "Crolt Beta" population: 175 million Crolt is the third Terra-like world in the Trikka system. Unlike Trikka and Kikaru, the life here is carbon-based. Feran: Colony population: 100 million Feran is a barren, almost featureless, world. It's only real redeeming value is that it is very stable and easy to build on. Takki: 12 moons - colonies on 3rd-12th Colony "Takki Gamma" population: 50 million Colony "Takki Delta" population: 75 million Colony "Takki Epsilon" population: 110 million Colony "Takki Indi" population: 125 million Colony "Takki Kappa" population: 10 million Colony "Takki Lambda" population: 35 million Colony "Takki Mu" population: 225 million Colony "Takki Nu" population: 375 million Colony "Takki Omega" population: 15 million Colony "Takki Omicron" population: 40 million Takki is a Jupiter-like gas giant. Britha: 2 moons - colony on 2nd Colony "Britha Beta" population: 50 million Britha bears a strong resemblence to Uranus. Duratti: Colony | 4 moons - colonies on 1st, 2nd, and 4th Planetary population: 150 million Colony "Duratti Alpha" population: 50 million Colony "Duratti Beta" population: 125 million Colony "Duratti Delta" population: 60 million A Neptune-like world. Littra: A Pluto-like world. Iterasu: 2 moons - colony on 2rd Colony "Iterasu Beta" population: 25 million Iterasu is so distant from its sun that many jokingly say that it's going to fly off into space. The temperature is low enough that the surface is covered with frozen hydrogen. Beta moon was chosen for a research colony due to its distance from any other settlement.

K'Chat - Yellow Star - 10 Worlds Ja'Ikta: Colony population: 75 million A Mercury-like world. Trenlor: 1 moon - colony Colony "Trenlor Alpha" population: 100 million A Mars-like world. Derynilo: Colony | 1 moon - colony Life Bearing Flora and Fauna: None of special interest. Planetary population: 1.5 billion Colony "Derynilo Alpha" population: 225 million A Terra-like world. Sadreta: 5 moons - colonies on 1st, 2nd, and 4th Colony "Sadreta Alpha" population: 150 million Colony "Sadreta Beta" population: 100 million Colony "Sadreta Delta" population: 180 million A world of toxins and acids. Compasai: Colony | 3 moons - colonies on 1st and 3rd Life Bearing Flora and Fauna: None of special interest. Planetary population: 1 billion Colony "Compasai Alpha" population: 100 million Colony "Compasai Gamma" population: 75 million Another Terra-like world. Jan'Itsu: Jan'Itsu is a Terra-like world. However, though it once bore abundant life, it is completely devoid of it now. At some point in this world's tragic history, a doomsday virus either developed or was introduced. This virus, though dormant, is still present over the entire surface of the world. The Tri'Katti government ruled that this virus posed too great a threat to potential colonists and placed the entire planet under medical quarantine. Asteroid Belt: Colony population: 40 million Kan'Ishu: 2 moons A Saturn-like world, without the rings. Der'Cator: Colony | 4 moons - colonies on 1st and 4th Planetary population: 250 million Colony "Der'Cator Alpha" population: 100 million Colony "Der'Cator Delta" population: 60 million Der'Cator resembles Jupiters moon, Europa, but is as large as Terra. It has a core of rock and a frozen water surface. Sandwiched between the two is an ocean of water. The greater portion of the planet's colonists live in habitats placed inside this ocean. Mas'Asani: Colony | 8 moons population: 10 million A large chunk of rock in space, Mas'Asani was turned into a penal colony. Since the formation of the Alliance, it has also become home to the Griakturan criminals as well. Gredutah: 16 moons A Jupiter-like gas giant. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Alyrian (Electron-cycle Lifeforms) Systems: Make their homes in the stars (where their species originated). Population:

The populations of the Alliance are somewhat expansive. The Griakturans left their world not by choice, but were forced by circumstance. Over-population and excessive industry drove them from the surface of the world, which they reclaimed a relatively short time ago. Over-population was also a driving factor in the Tri-Katti to expand from their world. Griakturans: 11.71 billion Tri'Katti: 10.595 billion Alyrian: 16 billion Feroui: 255 million Trudani: 50 million Total poulation: Space faring: 38.56 billion Other: 50 million Total: 38.61 billion

Climate and Geography:

Between the habitable and ohter planets in the systems of the alliance, there is enough information for book after book on the climate and geography therein.

Flora and Fauna:

The life to be found within the Alliance is quite varied. There are even sillicon based life forms. To catalog the varied life would require a book of some length.

Government:

The Alliance is ruled by the Dalurian Council. The coucil consist of nine members, 3 from each of the constituent empires. The Council represents, and is chosen by, the governments of each of these empires and is responsible for regulating inter-empire matters and dealings with foreign powers. The Griakturan government is a representative democracy quite similiar, but more effective, than that of the United States. The governmental bodies consist of representatives elected by the members of each clan. Usually, these representatives are the clan elders. The Tri'Katti still possess the remnants of the hive mind of their ancestors. This allows them to run their government as a true democracy, though those who actually handle governmental affairs are those descended from the queens. The Alyrians have a very loose government which serves primarily as a regulatory body to resolve conflicts over territory. It has also taken on the responsibility of handling relations with other empires. The Alyrians can have this small a government becuase they have a unique mindset which makes them very loyal to their race. In fact, in the entire history of the Alyrian civilization, there has never been any Alyrian that has done harm to another. The Alyrian empire allows its two created races to rule themselves. (The Trudani aren't even aware of the existence of the Alyrians.) The Feroui are ruled by a republican monarchy. They have a hereditary leader, but he has an advisory council elected by the population. The Trudani are a divided race. Their world bears a strong resemblence to Terra in the twelfth century.

Foreign Policy:

The Alliance is very tolerant of foreigners and visitors and traders are encouraged. They seek peace with all other empires that they meet, but make it clear that, if they are provoked, they will not hesitate to take a war to their enemies. The Alliances friends can expect to receive both fiscal and military aid if they require it. Its enemies can expect annhiliation.

Domestic Policy:

The Alliance is very strict about its internal security. In all three of the empires the population has a great deal of freedom, though the Alyrians have far more than the rest for the reason stated above. There is no censorship in the Alliance, and the government keeps few secrets from the population, though the military keeps secrets of its own. Taxes are light as the populations believe in contributing to the military to provide for their defense. This belief keeps military costs down. The empires of the Alliance have a complete seperation of church and state. Due to this, moral laws do not exist. Which means that there are no "victimless crimes" in the Alliance. Such things were legalized long ago. The internal security force of the Alliance, which has come under the direction of the Dalurian Council, is brutal in its enforcement. The rights of the individual are highly respected, but if there is sufficient cause to believe that someone may betray the Alliance, then there civil liberties are reduced until the matter is cleared up. If it is determined that some is guilty of conspiring against the Alliance, the Department of Internal Security will take any action necessary to extract all information regarding the crime from the perpetrator before killing them. This brutality results in a very few conspiracies against the government. Most of those who are unhappy with the Alliance either move to remote areas, leave Alliance space, or apply for relocation. Relocation is a service provided by the government to find homes in remote locations of the Alliance or in other empires of the galaxy.

Society:

Griakturan society is clan-based. Today, these clans have equal status, but there is still some throwback to the caste system of long ago when the noble clans led the Griakturan race. Today, more often then not, members of these clans become the elected leaders of the Griakturan Empire. These "noble" clans also run the schools of magic as they were once the only wielders of this power. Tri'Katti society is caste-based. Having descended from hive insects, three distinct castes have arisen. The Queens are the highest caste. They are highly intelligent, but are physically the weakest, of the castes, and they handle the governmental and managerial responsibilities of the empire. The Drone caste is the lowest of the castes. They are the backbone of the labor force and are responsible for the grunt work of the empire. They are physically the strongest of the castes, but their intellect is roughly the equivalent of that of a human with an IQ of 90. The are also by far the most numerous of the castes. In between these two is the Worker caste. By far the most versatile caste, the Workers are the technicians and scientists of the empire. Alyrians society is very loose. They are "divided" by the type of life that they prefer to experiment with. Some prefer marine animals, others land or avian animals. A small portion is working on developing another electron cycle life form, and an even smaller portion is attempting to create the first space born life form. The more successful creatures one creates (the more intelligent and survivable the better), the more respect s/he recieves from his peers. In the eyes of Tri'Katti law, all members of every caste are equal, but in social matters, though it is not require, members of lower castes almost always defer to those of higher castes. Feroui society is not entirely stable. The economy is good, and few people have to go without, especially since the formation of the Deru Alpha colony in the Chiaru system were the poor went to start better lives. The cause of the instability is religious differences. The history of the Feroui is spotted with numerous holy wars. Space flight was developed after the second to last holy war. This brought about a temporary peace. The lunar colony was established and developed during this peace. Then another holy war broke out. The occupants of the lunar colony decided to maintain peace there, and so they were spared the horror the war wreaked on the planet, where countless people were wiped out. Eventually, the lunar colony decided to step in and end the war. From orbit, they dropped meteors on the primary military facilities of the strongest factions. In effect, they conquered their planet. Since this war, agnosticism and atheism have flourished in the population. Peace has been maintained to date, with the lunar colony maintaining the threat of orbital bombardment, but tensions have been growing, and many fear that a new war is imminent. As with their governments, Trudani society bears a great resemblence to Terra in the twelfth century.

Languages:

The Griakturans, the Tri'Katti, and the Alyrians each have but one language. The Tri'Katti and the Alyrians only developed this single language. The Griakturans chose one of their languages and decided that that would be the language they would speak. The Tri'Katti have three dialects of their language, one for each class, but these dialects are basically differences in inflections. The Feroui have several languages. Those on the lunar colonies, both over the homeworld and in the Chiaru system share a common language which was developed by those over the homeworld to distance themselves from the religious factions on the planet. The Trudani have numerous languages, much like Terra in the twelfth century.

Religion:

Since the rise of the mages, religion has had almost no importance in the lives of the Griakturans. Most of the population is agnostic or atheistic. However, their is no discrimination against those who still have religious beliefs as the Griakturans are a tolerant people. Religion has never had any importance in the lives of the Tri'Katti. The closest thing to a religion in Tri'Katti society is the worship that sometimes develops in the lower castes for the members of the higher ones. The Alyrians have also never developed a real religion. The Feroui, as noted above, have numerous religions, which are among the most important things in their lives, and over which many wars have been fought. Like Terra in the twelfth century, the Trudani have many diverse religions.

Castes:

Only the Tri'Katti have a caste system, which is described above.

Economy:

All of the member empires are open societies. Their economies, if they have one, have advanced to the point that poverty is virtually unknown and wealth is fairly evenly distributed. Work is done primarily by adults, and is shared equally among both genders. Only the Tridani are exceptions to this. Their status varies by individual country.

Military:

Though not belligerent, the Alliance maintains an exceptionally strong military. This is because they believe in utterly destroying anyone who makes aggressive moves against the Alliance or its allies. Since the formation of the Alliance, the military has been integrating the military abilities of all member empires. This has resulted in a massive increase in the destruction potential of each ship in the fleet, which now makes use of both physical and energy weapons. The fleet is kept in top condition, as is its soldiers, and maintains a constant patrol of the systems in Alliance space. Even the unsettled systems have a constant military presence. The fleet is not the only defense that the Alliance systems have. Asteroid belts are equipped with military installations. Planets and moons are outfitted with massive weapons batteries and orbiting defence platforms. This is not to say that the Alliance is without the resources for a ground war. They are, in fact, quite prepared for the possibility that someone may slip past thier defenses. Massive armored vehicles are positioned throughout the surface of the Alliance planets, and ground troops stand at the ready. Almost the entire population of the Alliance has weapons training, and weapons are kept in every home. There are only two branches of the military in the Alliance: the Spacers, who man the space fleet; and the Grounders, who are in charge of planetary actions as well as the orbiting and asteroid bases.

Sports and Leisure:

There are a variety of leisure activites in the Alliance, varying from colony to colony. Leisure is encouraged in the Alliance as it is recognized that too much work will cause a negative impact on the quality of an individuals work, even in the Drones of the Tri'Katti.

Major Population Centers:

The central government of the Griakturan empire is located deep beneath the surface of Drath. The Tri'Katti goverment is headquartered on Trikka. The Alyrian central government is in Alyria. The Feroui government is on the Alpha moon of the planet Ferou. The Alliance headquarters is located on the Alyrian planet Itanowei in the Chiaru system. The Spacers are headquartered on the Tri'Katti world of Mas'Asani in the K'Chat system. The Grounders are headquarteted on the Griakturan world of Cretas in the Thouras system.

Chronic Problems:

The only major chronic problem in the Alliance is that the racial tensions between the members thereof have not entirely disappeared. The Feroui are also plagued by religious conflicts on their homeworld. The Trudani are faced by the same problems as those faced on Earth in the twelfth century.
