Overview:

The Chilkit Coalition is a unity of about 20 star systems, with about 16 intelligent life forms making up the coalition. They are united for mutual trade, exploration, science, and military protection.

The Chilkit Coalition is governed by the High Conclave and the High Clerist. The High Clerist is the spiritual and diplomatic leader of the Chilkit.

The Chilkit have led a relatively peaceful existence in recent history, but have had their share of armed conflicts -- most notably the Rebellion of 183 GC (around 2300 BC Earth years) in which the populace of several backwater worlds rose up against the High Clerist. They protested the passing of a law in which their planets were to be made into farming planets in order to feed the billions of Chilkit and their allies.

Three major fleets patrol the outer systems of the Chilkit Coalition.

Of the 17 star systems that make up the Chilkit Coalition, only 7 have planets that support huge numbers of intelligent life. Four of these systems are Kora, Chilken, Kostolian, and Kriost; making up the heart the Chilkit Coalition. The other three star systems are found on the other side of the empire; Lysia, Lyshan, and Lyren (Three Sisters). These 3 systems support 0 intelligent species, the other 14 are found grouped and clustered in the other group of stars, the Four Brothers. All together, the life-supporting systems are called the Seven Sentinels. The homeworld of the Chilkit is located in the Chilken system, on the fourth planet called Chilkit Prime.

[Currently Under Study]

Technology:

The Chilkit Coalition is relatively completely industrialized. Some worlds which receive less funding are less advanced. All members of the Coalition are capable of space flight, and space travel is the very heart of the Chilkit Coalition. All security is run through space flight. Trade, business, and industry are all conducted in space.

The industrial history of the Chilkit is a messy one. As they became more and more capable of space flight, they explored planets in their solar system. Here they found intelligent life forms not unlike themselves. But, the most advanced among these barbarians were just discovering agriculture. The Chilkit did, as they would demonstrate countless more times, what they do best. They loaded up troops, sent them to their sister world, and conquered the primitive people living there.

They enslaved them and relocated all of their industry to that planet, in order to keep their homeworld pristine. The relocation of the industries off-planet meant that space travel must be improved; so it was.

Within a century, the Chilkit were making runs in solar powered space vehicles around their solar systems. Some craft had even made it to neighboring Kriost system, but were unable to establish a self-sustaining colony. When intelligent life, just beginning their exploration of the cosmos, was found the Chilkit moved into the Kriost system and gave their second contact all the technology that had made the Chilkit what they are.

The planets society was shattered, as a result, and it took almost a hundred years to repair it. But, after that time, the Lenarians were ready to join as a third member of the Chilkit Coalition.

But, as the planets in the Chilken system that housed the Klarr and the Chilkit industry became ever more polluted, the Klarr rose up against their over-seers and oppressors. They captured many industries and shut them down. Life in the new Coalition ground to a screeching halt. Finally, three weeks later, a truce was signed that made the Klarr equals to the Chilkit, and the Chilkit relocated its industries.

Huge space stations orbiting dead worlds on the outskirts of the Chilken system were built. The industries relocated there, and the worlds of the Chilken system were then free of the pollution of the industries. The supply ships made more runs out to the industrial stations to pick up finished goods. Robots were created to mine the dead worlds in which the industries orbited; providing the raw material necessary for production. About 120 of these industrial stations float about the dead outer expanse of the Chilken system, providing for the empire.

The Major Industrial Centers are found in the dead systems: star systems that support no intelligent life, or no life whatsoever. The Industrial Space Platforms are found orbiting dead worlds which are harvested of ores and minerals to provide for the raw materials needed for manufacturing. The Chilkit are almost completely self-sufficient; it has been a major goal since the beginning of recorded history not to rely on trade and other variables that cannot be accurately controlled.

The Chilkit produce large amounts of imports, and buy very little in the way of imports; giving a huge source of income and a small source of outside spending. The Chilkit occasionally do trade with those they have negotiated an alliance with, but rarely toward any other. Open trade is, however, encouraged.

Chilkit Prime, the homeworld of the Chilkit Coalition, was a planet that was abused by its children, its ungrateful offspring. It was ravaged and raped with the blessings, more accurately, the curses of technology and industry. The homeworld was almost ready to die, to heave a sigh of death and eliminate the pain and suffering caused by the sentients it had spawned when, just in time, the Chilkit achieved space flight and removed their industries from the planet.

The Healing then took place; long and hard, long and difficult, long and natural. By the time the Chilkit had conquered everything the q-dex boundary would allow them, they returned home. The ancient world had completely healed in their long absence. The ancient cities were rebuilt, and the planet once again supported the life and the children it had spawned; now full and healthy.

Magic:

Magic was discovered in the Coalition during the final years of the Awakening Summons. The Coalition makes certain that magic is approved for use before it is released into the society. Even paltry parlor tricks must be approved. The nature of the q-dex in the Coalition is this: even simple spells weaken the caster severely. Major summoning and the like can leave a caster paralyzed or even dead. For this reason, magic plays a very small role in defense and society, but it has and can be used to defend the Coalition.

Size:

The Chilkit Coalition contains 17 star systems:

In the first 4 systems explored by the Chilkit (Kora, Kriost, Kostalian and Chilken) 14 species of intelligent life that had crossed over into the space travel stage were found. In those systems, 20 moons, planets, or other stellar bodies sustain life, but none of these with any intelligent life as we know it. Of all the Four Brothers, 33 moons, asteroids, or planets supported life. These were colonized early on, and are now bustling edifices of trade and commerce.

In these systems combined, there were 14 other moons or planets that sustain multitudes of life. In the Three Sisters, 17 planets, moons, or other stellar objects can support life. Alas, these systems are so very far from the heart of the Chilkit Coalition that they are rarely visited by anyone other than the patrol fleets who pass each system twice a week.

It is rumored that if necessary, the Three Sisters could break away from the Chilkit Coalition during a losing war with time enough to put billions of people on the City Ships and send them away; scattering the races of the Chilkit Coalition to the four winds of the cosmos; forever ensuring the survival of the Coalition, scattered even as they would be. There are no indigenous sentient life forms in this area of space.

In the Four Brothers:

The System Kora: contains 2 planets that support intelligent members of the Coalition. These are Lapolis and Largo...

The Planet Lapolis: supports 3 intelligent life forms. These are the Midans, the Kran-Tobal, and the Kras. They are knitted so closely together that one race cannot survive without the other. Four planets or moons are inhabited here by the Coalition. All of these people are roughly similar to lizards. They require a dry, warm environment. Most of the population centers are located in the plains and deserts. They have leathery hides and what can only be translated as scales in places of their skin protecting vital organs.

The Planet Largo: supports only one species, but its population makes up 1/7 of the Coalition. They are called the Haftel. They are roughly human except for a line of ridges that extend from the hairline down to the bridge of the nose in an hourglass shape. They are mammals and reproduce faster than anything larger than a bacteria has any right to do, although now strict population laws are in effect on the planet in order to control the population and effectively provide food for the multitudes.

In the System Kostalian: there are three planets that support intelligent life. They are Manu, Minos, and Minas. Each one supports one species of intelligent life. When the Coalition made contact with them, they had already formed a state of stars between themselves, and were happy to join the Coalition. There are 6 stellar bodies that have been colonized.

On Minas: there is one species of mammals, called the Kadlo. They are thought to be descendants of the big cats. They have furry bodies and fingers that sheath wicked, sharp claws. There are roughly only a billion of this species left, since the cat nature in them has plagued the planet since its creation with wars and violence. The remaining Kadlo have compensated for this lack of people by giving birth to multiple children, maybe 6 or 7 to a parent at one time. There is very little social structure among them, and whatever species once inhabited the planet have dwindled to the point or past extinction to feed these large carnivores. The Coalition is currently restoring the planets ecosystem. This planet must be completely supplied by outside food sources.

Minos: shares the same orbital path that Minas shares. The life forms here are similar, except that they have a highly advanced society, technology, and government. They are very peaceful, in most ways complete opposites of their cousins on Minas. Called: Kadlar

On Manu: there is one species of sentient beings called the Fabrini. The Fabrini have furry bodies, yet their arms have developed into wings big enough to carry them for short distances without wind, and for huge distances with wind. They are rarely found among the stars on ships, but prefer to stick to their homeworld. The Fabrini eat insects and smaller rodents. They also eat fruit and vegetables, but rarely eat anything bigger than a jukat (translating roughly to squirrel). There is a moderate population of Fabrini; about 5 billion. Manu is a jungle world with an over-abundance of life. The Coalition sometimes harvests portions of this planet for disaster relief on other worlds. The huge amounts of rain make this planet a tropical jungle.

In the Kriost System: there are 4 planets that support life: Gideon, Gamela, Lankal, and Camus.

On Gideon: there is a race of fish that call themselves the Phyrox. There is also a race of cetacean life forms, called Philana. The Phyrox and Philana live in peace, harvesting the ocean for food. Gideon is a completely oceanic planet. Little volcanic or geologic activity has led to the eroding and eventual destruction of all land. The Coalition harvests seafood from Gideon for trade around the Coalition.

On Gamela: is a race that has evolved from the ant. They are only about 2 feet in height and make their homes underground. Little has changed for this species in the way of life; most things are still done the way their smaller cousins still do them. They call themselves Gamzians. They are on almost every ship. They are used as engineers and repairmen... jobs which they love since they are constantly burrowing around in the dark entrails of a starship.

On Lankal: there is a race of mammals descending from the great apes of earth -- kinda. They are still very primitive, but interaction between Lankal and its sister planet, Camus, has sped them ahead. On Lankal and Camus there are mammals that look roughly human except for dark blotches of skin that are hardened to protect important organs. These races are mostly among the stars, and experts joke that very few of them would even care if their homeworlds blew up. The two races each call themselves the Calkuns, even though there are enormous social differences between the two. There is also a race of Arigulons, but they are rarely seen. The Arigulons live mainly on the moons of Camus. The most intelligent of this race has not counted past 2 and has yet to break the double digit IQ. This race is a member of the Coalition in name only.

There are 15 moons or other bodies that are colonized in the Kriost System.

In The Chilken System: there are two races, The Klarr and the Chilkit. The Chilkit are crab-like humanoids with exoskeletons, the Klarr are hairy humans blessed with the miracle of evolution.

The Chilkit live on Chilkit Prime. The Klarr live on the planet of Jokylt.

Here is a summary of the star systems:

  1. Chilken
  2. Kora
  3. Kostalian
  4. Kriost
  5. Lysia
  6. Lyshan
  7. Lyrem

The other ten systems support no intelligent life; but they do have many planets and moons that have life on them, plus Biospheres on a planets surface if it isnt capable of life. There are also the underground colonies on these sorts of moons or planets. These 10 systems make up the backbone of the Coalition Industry and Manufacturing Branches.

Population:

There are roughly 200,000,000,000,000 in the Coalition. This number has risen so high because of the enormous number of places suitable for colonization, not to mention the fact that environment domes can be placed on many moons or other planets that are uninhabitable. Also to be considered is the number of people living underground, either as a home or as a military base.

Below is a list of the species; in order of population:

  1. Haftel
  2. Chilkit
  3. Gamzians
  4. Calkuns
  5. Klarr
  6. Midans/Kran-Tobal/Kras
  7. Philana
  8. Phyrox
  9. Arigulons
  10. Fabrini
  11. KAdlar
  12. KAdlo

[A census is currently in progress, these are only the preliminary findings.]

Climate and Geography:

All of the Coalitions occupied planets support rich varieties of biotopes and an even more diverse array of animal species. The weather on most occupied planets is typical of that of a Class-M world; like Earth or other stellar bodies that support life. Around the Equatorial Zones, weather is warm to hot, and very humid with huge amounts of rain. All planets have extensive mountain ranges, and these are used to provide valuable minerals.

Flora and Fauna:

A wide range of flora and fauna is present in the Coalition. Scientists are currently registering all the species. This is probably one of the most biologically diverse areas of space out there for its size. The information archive will be available at a later date; but it is closed now for securitys sake.

History:

The Chilkit have evolved from a form of crustacean life. >From early on, the Chilkit were very interested in expanding; which probably explains the rate at which they have reached the q-dex fronts that stop their expansion.

The Unification Wars:

The Chilkit have had their share of war, which is why they try and avoid it as much as possible. In the days before and right after space travel became common enough for ordinary civilians to use, the Chilkit had been separate countries.

The country of Quith-pa, the largest of them all, owning the northern hemisphere and much of the southern, was bent on world domination. But, as the secrets of the atom were unlocked, nuclear war erupted on the planet. By the time the two sides had decided for peace, they had done enough damage to affect the weather -- making it a few degrees colder than it should be but little else.

The first wake-up call came when an unknown ship entered the fringes of the solar system. The Chilkit were terrified. They quickly banded together and sent the combined wrath of the Chilkit Homeworld against it. The craft was destroyed, but in its place was the need for rapid progression. Soon after that (about 300 years), the Chilkit found the Klarr. Events proceeded apace, and the accumulation of new territory was accomplished the same way it was on Chilken Prime; desperation and a way to survive.

After the bloody past of the pre-space flight era, the Chilkit were ready to improve their life quality, not kill each other. But, as each new threat against the Coalition is discovered; the Chilkit attack it without remorse. A popular saying for the way the Coalition attack is: An entire army of hornets swarm from the nest to attack a lone gnat that had drifted carelessly into their territory.

The historical texts of the Chilkit have been lost over the centuries, so very little of the past is left for the Coalition. But the past has already been lived in and done, the Coalition focuses more on today and tomorrow rather than yesterday, a trait that has helped them swerve clear of several disastrous calamities.

A great war, far greater than any in the history of the Chilkit Empire, was fought only 2000 years ago. The Coalition had long since established itself in the area of space that it is located, though it had yet to make contact with any other major stellar empire. Until then, a neighboring empire, bent on securing itself in the area that the Chilkit Coalition was located in, attempted to conquer this small menace.

The Coalition launched everything it had.

The wars lasted for 237 years.

Almost a third of the Coalitions population was lost. Over three quarters of its military was lost. Then came what is now called The Awakening Summons. The Awakening Summons was when the gods of the Chilkit came as mortal men and women to walk among the troops. Still, the overwhelming desperation of the conquerors was too much. The gods gave several chosen individuals the power of magic, but at a terrible cost.

The nature of the q-zone made casting a spell, even a minor one, drain the life force of the caster almost to death. But the Archmagi (or The Elected as they were called) combined their forces against one particular fleet of invaders. The magical detonation destroyed the enemy fleet. The enemy empire, alarmed at this show of power, stopped its invasion. The Elected were found burned to dust, the effects of magical spell-casting in the region.

Since then, the Chilkit have always maintained a watchful gaze on the cosmos.

Government:

A joint Conclave with 3 members per planet rules the area of space that the Coalition is located in. The High Clerist presides over the Conclave. He is the government and spiritual leader of the people. It is he that can declare war or peace with any other empire. The High Clerist can over-rule the Conclave, with the Conclave being to over-rule him with an unanimous vote. The government contains all the power, but the people of each planet elect the Conclaves.

At the present time, the government is in good relations with the people. When the Coalition first went out among the stars, the people were unhappy with how much of their tax money was being spent on exploration. Several riots erupted.

These opened the ears of the Conclave and High Clerist, and together the government and the people co-operated to lower taxes. Most people are loyal to the Coalition, however, there are merchants and pirates who still aspire to overthrow the government. These make up such an exceedingly small threat that the government continues to allow them their illegal activity...

The government is rather small. It prefers to leave many matters to the High Clerist to deal with. Most of the time the government spends is used to discuss funding for the military and other planets.

The government has a very large role in the society, with the High Clerist as the spiritual leader.

Foreign Policy:

The Coalition is open to all alliances, to all races, to all nations, to all peoples. The Coalition wants to help its neighbors. It will even loan money or military forces to an ally or friend. The Coalition is open to outsiders and tourism. But, this arms-open in welcome is not an invitation for invasion.

If a ship assumes aggressive posture, the full might of one of the 16 major fleets is brought to bear on it. If a fleet is found crossing Coalition borders, the entire society springs into action.

Be warned: We love all but those who wish us harm. As it says on the bottom of our official seal We have waited centuries for this moment... may the rivers flow with the blood of those who oppose us.

We are easy-going and completely friendly, but if attacked first, the entire might of the Coalition could be brought to bear on an enemy empire...

Be warned: We will not tolerate aggression against us our neighbors and allies. But, be friendly and come in peace and you will have a most relaxing stay at the Coalition.

A more complete guide to the Chilkit Coalition can be found by clicking here.

Domestic Policy:

The government is very lenient toward those who are good citizens. But if they mess up once, the government cracks down with the force of an ancient nuclear bomb. The government is easy-going on those who obey the laws. The citizens lead their own lives according to the law of Inetism. In times of peace, the taxes are very light, but in times of war they are raised to a gargantuan proportion in order to fund the war effort. In times of peace, about a third of the population is involved in the military. In times of war, this will raise as every able bodied man or woman takes up arms to defend the Coalition. There is moral order based on the peoples religious views. There is much freedom of speech except in the circles of religion and upper-class residents. The internal security force is called: the corn is good, eat the corn. Translation: it cannot be translated into any known languages. It is an ancient language. They enforce the order of society, but are needed very little since the laws are based around the religion.

Society:

Society is based around family Houses. There is one main culture in the Coalition in order to keep things simple, though smaller cultures and religions are not discriminated against.

The people adhere very closely to the laws because of their likeness to Inetism and because of the harsh punishments on even the most paltry of crimes.

Social interaction takes place anywhere. It is neither encouraged or discouraged, it is left to the people. Basic ways of socialization depend on the planet and the people involved.

  • Families- family groups strive to move to the northern end of the cities they live in. Each family group is called a House, with the family name going before or after it; the High Clerists House being House Kyril.
  • Religious groups- there is one dominant religion around which laws are made. However, many smaller religious groups are tolerated and sometimes even accepted, but they must follow the laws of the Inetism.
  • Political groups- there are very few political groups, the High Clerist being chosen through the mothers genetic line. The daughter becomes High Clerist until she chooses one to marry. He then becomes High Clerist. There is little to debate about in the Coalition since most laws are based around religion. There is no organized branch of political groups, so there is very little commotion in the government. This leads to lower stresses for the people and also, lower taxes.
  • Economic groups- the more north in a city a particular House takes residence, the higher their riches and the higher their status.
  • Others- the Coalition contains many cultures, but only one is major. That culture is the language of Common and the religion of Inetism. Society is mixed with traditions from each species in the Coalition, so there is a bit of everything. This maintains a low unrest rate.

Society basically goes like this: The richer people get the better jobs, the poorer people get the worse jobs. This encourages the poor to constantly strive to move northward, thus making everyone a hard worker who will not hesitate to lay down his life for the good of his Coalition.

Languages:

Each race speaks its own language. However, in races where there are more than one sentient specie per planet, it is usually the same language with different dialects. In fact, there are over 36 registered languages in the Coalition.

To overcome this obstacle, the Coalition created a form of language called Common. Common is taught to all children. All children are fluent in both their native language and Common. With the onslaught of technology, more and more people are moving toward Common as their only language. It is hoped that within 1000 years, all citizens will speak chiefly Common, with the old tongues used only in religious ceremonies and the like. The Conclaves and the High Clerist all use Common.

Most languages are common on their native planets. Common, however, is the chief language and is also the most prevalent language.

Religion:

The religion of the Chilkit is called Inetism. The clergyman of Inetism preach the Declaration, an account handed down by the gods to the first Chilkit. The Declaration basically defines the way by which all government, families, law, and business in the Coalition is conducted. All laws are based on religion, which ensures a pretty low crime rate. Every other species in the Coalition has its own religion, but the main bulk of the population have turned to Inetism.

The Inetism religion determines all the law and government in the Coalition. All governments follow Inetism, which means that the bulk of the planets population follows this religion too.

The Inetists believe in three gods: Lunitaria, Gornia, and Thela-Karlin

Lunitaria is the god of what little magic there is in the Coalition. She is the one who grants the spells of the casters, and determines the price. Lunitaria is also the patron god of business, the sea, and evolution.

Gornia is the god of the planets. It is he who keeps the planets spinning on their axis, it is he also who keeps them around the sun. Gornia is the patron god of nature, animals, plants, and all other life. All the planets sprung from his Garden.

The Garden is a paradise found in the Nuitari Nebula found on the far side of the Coalition, close to the Three Sisters. The Celestial Shrine, the home of the gods, is where the Chilkit believe that their gods reside...

In the Celestial Shrine is a place unlike any other; the Garden. The Garden is tended by Gornia. It is said that every time he strolls through the Garden, his boots send rocks spraying into the air. The rocks then land in space, and it is on these rocks that Gornia paints his portrait of life. The perfect world, the Chilkit homeworld, was created when Gornia became angry with himself. He was unable to create the master race that he wanted. And so, in a blind rage, he kicked the gravel in his Garden.

The rocks once again sprayed into space, but one in particular had life on it, perfect life from the Garden. Gornia saw potential in this. He gifted the planet with life and watched as it grew up, watched as they went out into the heavens to explore beyond the mother world, and he was happy.

Thela-Karlin is the patron god of all that is evil. She is the half sister of Lunitaria. Gornia is her brother. She is the patron god of death, disease, and decay. She is the god of weaponry and of warfare. She relishes in bloodshed, and those that do evil are brought to her temple, there to be determined their sentence. She controls the evil in all of us, and it is only through the willingness to do right that she is trapped in the Celestial Shrine.

The Celestial Shrine is a nebula-like object that swirls on the outskirts of Chilkit space; near the Three Sisters. The Shrine only opens when the quantum front reaches a certain point in space. Then the Shrine opens, and from it pours a brilliant light. It is believed that this is the dwelling place of the gods.

Castes:

In the Chilkit Coalition, the levels of society are based on the living quarters of each House. In the capitol city; ShiNidar, the richer and higher class residents live toward the northern end of the city. The farther south one travels in ShiNidar, the poorer and poorer the areas of housing become, eventually reaching the slums. The Northern Migration: the act which entire families (called Houses) move northward with the renewed hope of fortune and power. The northernmost Houses are the highest in caste level, the southernmost are the lowest caste.

Interaction between the classes is exceedingly common. Most people can sympathize with the southern homesteaders, having been there once before. However, the more north you get, the more rigid the rich become. They hardly interact with those poorer than they. There seems to be no rule generally accepted to be true about this, it all depends on the particular House.

Slavery does exist in the Coalition, though it is only a punishment for criminals, murderers, etc. In time, the family can choose to buy back a slave in their House family, and they can release him or keep him. Once one crime is committed, that person is usually permanently removed from society. Or the person is put into slavery at the industrial stations, the planet plantations, or his own familys House. This punishment, along with the fact that laws are based on the religion, ensures a very low crime rate.

Economy:

The base of the Chilkit economy is industry and enterprise. Almost everything that the Chilkit Empire needs is made within its boundaries, very little is imported. A large portion of the Coalitions economy is its exports. Most planets that did not originally support intelligent life were colonized and turned into huge plantations to feed the trillions of Chilkit and their allies. All business in the major cities employs both men and women. These handle the bulk of the money and other fiscal issues. They also provide the public with its goods from the industries.

The industry is run in outer space on huge stations that orbit dead worlds. These dead worlds are harvested to provide the industries orbiting it raw material. In the industries work the slaves.

A person could be made a slave if they break one of the Sacred Laws. Their lands are yanked away from them and their possessions are confiscated. If that is not enough to pay for their crime, they are auctioned off to industry owners. There they can work until the Chilkit government feels it is time to let them return to society; they hardly ever do that, however.

The money is a gem with many facets that reflect light. A simple cube is worth very little, with the more sides, the more the gem is worth. It is bright maroon in color and reflects much light. The gems name is Kujinam- translating roughly into brightness.

The Kujinam is mined in the mountains and volcanoes of almost all planets in the Coalition. This makes it rather easy for a particular planet to make its own money if the Coalition should elect to cut back its funding.

Funding in the Coalition is based on population. The more people living on a particular planet, the more money they get. The tax rate is rather low in times of peace. The huge population of the Coalition makes income a rather easy problem to deal with. The Coalition also receives money from exports. This money is not divided up among the planets, but rather it goes to the backwater worlds with little colonization for use. These backwater worlds are huge plantations with very little population planet-wide. They receive a pitifully small amount of funding from the taxes, so all export income is routed to these planets. This method ensures that every planet has its fair share of funds needed to operate successfully.

Half the income of taxes is spent to improve and run the military and government provided services. The rest is divided up among the planets with more population getting more money.

Military:

The military might of the Chilkit is strong. Even in times of peace, almost a third of the population is involved in the military. The military is composed mainly of attack fighters, bombers, marauders, and carriers. The carriers can carry the fighters, bombers, and marauders to any point in the area rapidly. For far away missions, the carriers can group together in huge convoys and deliver quite a punch.

The main weaponry of the Chilkit Coalition are torpedoes and disrupters. Disrupters deliver a single blast to any enemy craft. If the craft is lightly armored or shielded, the disrupters will penetrate and cause a system-wide shutdown of the ship. The torpedoes are fired from ports on any ship the Coalition employs. They can completely wipe out the enemy ship with a single volley. The torpedo is good for long-range fighting and for bringing down shields or armor.

Sports and Leisure:

Entertainment is based on hologram movies or plays. There is a great many parks where outside activity takes place. Water sports are also highly common. Leisure time is usually taken at dusk or at dawn, with the work day in between. Art in the Coalition is very varied. No document could enclose everything about the art in the Coalition. Music is also very common.

Major Population Centers:

Most planets have a huge number of population centers. They are usually dominated by skyscrapers that has everything their residents need, making it unnecessary to exit the building for anything. In the capitol city, there stands a building so magnificent that it will not be described here. It is where the government meets, and it is here that many people fall before it, awed by its glorified essence.

Chronic Problems:

There is a pathetically small amount of merchants and pirates who oppose the government. However, their numbers are on the fall as more and more of the Greater Galaxy is discovered.

Reports have been recieved of mysterious monsters appearing in the streets only to melt away into the surroundings. Government reports that these are nothing more than dilusional people who were affected by recent q-dex storms.

On Manu several reports have been recieved of civilians revolting against the priests of the Inetists. These are completely under control, and nothing will be accomplished by this revolt.

Currently, the gods of Inetism are upset and seem more on the dangerous side. Records from the priests given to the High Clerist state that the Balance of Power in religion is shifting, and the gods are nervous. Most Chilkit pass this off as nonsense.

Another chronic problem is over-population. Due to the lack of food, resources, and land, many are homeless and thrown into the streets. However, borrowing from the idea of the Irindris city ships, these homeless are packed away into holding pens. There they are treated for any calamities or sickness. These pens are called the Sanctions. In essence, weve taken a city block and sealed it in with walls.

Then these people are shipped onto a city ship. These city ships are currently being mass produced. They are trained, and the homeless citizens are put on these massive ships. Each ship is about a third of the mass of the Chilkit homeworld. These ships then are armed with enough military power to keep an entire fleet at bay. These ships spread across the cosmos, spreading the power of the Coalition. It is hoped that many of these ships will found new colonies, but that is doubtful.

If a problem occurs aboard one of the many ships such as mutiny, the ship is designed to automatically hurtle itself into the nearest sun and destroy itself and its contents in the suns corona. If over-crowding occurs, the ship is designed to break into two separate ships. Half the population is assigned to each ship. These two newer ships, though smaller, go on about their way. If it is still over-crowded,  criminals, homeless people, slaves, etc. are executed in masses by electrocution.

This is necessary to preserve the good of the many and only happens as a last resort. But it does occur often, due to many peoples stubbornness in being asked to have small families. These uncooperative individuals are sterilized.
