The Blys Confederation.

Overview:

The Blysites are a culture of Chaos. Because of their mastery in genetic engineering, neurology, nano-technology, and computer design, they are able to completely change everything about themselves at a whim. This includes not just cosmetic changes to appearance. They can radically alter their height, weight, number of appendages, sex, species. Almost any change that is physically possible can be made in a matter of seconds for minor changes or overnight for especially dramatic ones. They can also determine their own state of mind almost at will, even to the point of completely replacing one personality for another.

Aside from their abilities at personal transformation, most of them also have an implant which connects the mind of each individual Blysite to every other one. This grants incredible telepathic abilities, and also exponentially increases the intellectual capacity of everyone connect to their hive-mind.

They care little for personal power over others, because they have almost infinite power to create their own internal happiness, without need of others to help. Because of that, they have given oversight to a synthetic mind, which guides their expansion through their local system, and also is the ambassador to any outside forces they may encounter. This synth is different from nearly every other known synth, because it has intimate access to the minds of nearly every member of the empire. This enables it incredible processing power, and knowledge base to work from. It can also 'ride' (possess) any Blysite as it deems necessary to complete a task. It is actually unknown whether this synth, who calls herself 'Tlyeh' (the Blysite word for God), is an actual TFP processor or a phenomenon created by the hive mind, or some combination of the two.

Technology:

As above, they have incredible ability to manipulate living things, including themselves. Much of their technology is biologic in nature. All of their starships are created from leaving creatures, grown in orbiting space stations (which themselves are alive) around their planets. Actually almost everything in this Quantum Zone is alive, including the planets.

Magic:

Their use of magic is minimal if used at all. Magic is practically non-existent here.

Size:

They have colonized 2 planets in their home star system. Both of them are roughly the same size and type, however one has only been colonized in the past 100 years, and as such is not very developed.

Population:

The population on their homeworld is massive because they have for the most part defeated death, and the physical need of individuals is not particularly great, so they can live quite close. There are nearly 60 billion people living on their home world, and around 500 million on their colony.

Climate and Geography:

Almost every single spot on their homeworld is developed. There are few untouched areas. In most places their cities are built up hundreds of stories above the ground. However, almost everything here is alive. This includes the buildings, which the designed from the earth and the plants around them. So their development has not lead to the destruction of life, but to the re-purposing of it. There have nearly complete control of their weather, so it is rare that storms cross the surface.

Flora and Fauna:

The Confederation probably has the most unusual life of any empire in the galaxy. Almost nothing has been left untouched by their designs. There are plants which are lived in, used a weapons, as vehicles. There is no wild life on their homeworld, and on the colony world of Hyth, they are rapidly transforming the local flora and fauna to fit their needs. An interesting thing about the fauna in this system is that the Blysites are the only vertebrates in the star system which is dominated by plants and insects, leading most to believe that they are colonists from another Quantum Zone, and not created here.

History:

The history of this empire available to the OMNET is sketchy at best, because of the complete lack of written records, and the difficulty of communication with individual Blysites.

Government:

The Government here, if it can be called that, is ruled by a synthetic mind named Tlyeh. She is connected to the hive-mind of the Blysites, and has nearly complete control of the entire race. She can read their minds and control their actions. They seem not to mind their complete lack of freedom because when they are not being 'ridden' they have almost total control of their own destiny and mind, probably more than any other sentient in the galaxy.

Foreign Policy:

Tlyeh seems very agreeable to inclusion in OMNET, and doesn't seem to be xenophobic at all. She welcomes the visits of any outsiders, and allows her people to leave whenever they choose. They don't have a standing military, but they have a massive fleet of space craft, which can be converted to Warrior mode in a matter of days.

Domestic Policy:

Tlyeh could be considered totalitarian, but the people simply do not rebel. Why should they? There is no pain, no death, no poverty. There is only nearly complete freedom and total joy. There is no standing security force, but should the need arise, any member of the hive mind can be converted to a Warrior in about an hour, which enables the Blysites to handle almost any emergency.

Society:

The society is almost insectile. They separated the sex act (and therefore the individual) from birth centuries ago, so there is no family structure. Almost births are created by the will of Tlyeh. Their is no religion, no politics and no economics, they are a group mind. They think together. Their society has a flat structure, everyone is equal if they choose to be.

Languages:

There is only one language, but they speak only very rarely preferring telepathy.

Religion:

Sports and Leisure:

They can do almost anything imaginable on this world. However because of their almost complete freedom to control their own emotions and actions, they tend to do very little in the way of entertainment. Many times they just sit still and are happy. Sometimes they'll engage in wild orgies, or intensely violent virtual sporting events, but mostly they just wander the hiveworld doing the bidding of tlyeh.

Major Population Centers:

Their entire world is a massive city. They have no population centers.

Chronic Problems:

Necessity is the mother of invention. The have few necessities, and so they have had little technological progress over the last few decades. Time will tell if they will be able to begin creating again should the need arise.
